This suggestion isn't original to me, but I liked it. I think Washington should bring back the name of that winning baseball team that made the team proud many years ago.

Not the Senators. The Negro leagues had a team called the "Grays" that played in Washington, DC. They did quite well. The Negro leagues played some excellent baseball, and it would be a fitting memorial to their talent to bring back that name.

Okay, "Washington Grays" is not that flashy a name, but if two team can be named after the color of their socks, we can live with the Grays. Besides, the headline writers can have a lot of fun with it.

"'GRAYS CRAZE' AS FANS LINE UP TO BUY TICKETS"
"GRAYS BLAZE TO SEVENTH IN A ROW"
"GRAY-OUT: WASHINGTON FALLS 3-0"
"AMAZING GRAYS--HOW SWEET THE SOUND AS TEAM HAMMERS SEVEN HOME RUNS IN ONE DAY"
"BRAVES WIN SERIES FINALE AND SURVIVE A TOUCH OF GRAY"
"GRAYS ZING IN THE GRASS AS OUTFIELD RECORDS FOUR ASSISTS IN ONE GAME"

Calling them the Senators would not be cool, the last two teams with that name moved, bad luck.

They should use one of the team names from the Negro League, like the Grays or the Monarchs or Crawfords or Barons.

The "Washington Parasites"? Clunky but demonstrative.

The Royals are the best double-A team in the majors.

Somehow I don't think they're even that good this year :-( I love my Royals but it's really been a long hard season. Only bright spots are John Buck and David DeJesus and Randa in September.

Oh, there isn't a prayer of Angelos being commish; he doesn't fit in at all. The rest of the owners are Republicans, basically, he's a Democrat, etc.

Basically they're biding time till George W. Bush is commissioner.

The Orioles aren't going anywhere. The facility is too nice, and most places that used a lot of public money to build stadiums have iron-clad VERY long term lease arrangements preventing moves; that's why the Tampa Bay Devil Rays CANNOT be moved.

The Orioles will do fine financially if they win, and will not do fine if they keep sucking.

And if people don't like "The Grays", there's always "The Washington Irvings."

What a stupid decisiion. In a few years it will be bye bye Orioles. DC will be direct competition.

Considering the fantastic job Baltimore and the fans have been doing, this is pure bull pucky.

Smaller urban areas have supported two teams successfully for a long time.

The Orioles aren't going anywhere or being contracted. Can't fathom how people are getting that idea.

"Fantastic Job" Baltimore has been doing? The organization has made an endless series of moronic player personnel decisions since 1997. Whatever problems Baltimore may have are caused by a failure to win.

Well, it's a lot more respectable and honorable position for a fairly young retired president (hopefully in 2009 rather than 2005) than wandering around giving $100,000 speeches like Clinton.

He's previously partially owned a team, is liked by the owners, and obviously they'd welcome the prestige and publicity from him being commissioner.

"I hope they are called the Senators, also."

It makes sense. For years the Harrisburg, PA Senators have been feeding the Montreal team with great players (AA).

However, it looks like next year, Harrisburg will get the AAA Lynx from Ottawa. Still not settled yet.
