Now the Expos players will at least get paid in real dollars now!
To: ItsJeff
Interesting. So where are they going to put them, RFK Stadium for now, until the local jurisdictions and MLB can gang up and gouge the taxpayers for a new park?

I hope they change the team's name. I hate it when teams keep their old names, even when it is nonsensical. To wit: Utah Jazz (from New Orleans), LA Lakers(from Minnesota), Arizona Cardinals (there aren't any cardinals in the desert), etc., etc.

Sweet! Can we call them the Senators now? I might stick with my O's though.

Both Canadian teams have always paid their players in US dollars.

I hope they change the team's name. That is about the best guarantee that will happen.
For gods sake, they aren't even named after anything, they are named after a one time event in montreal.
I don't even think 90% of baseball fans even know that.
My guess, something corny, like the senators (from the "old days gone by").

Stick with the Senators, the historic name. Plus, the usual suspects in Washington city politics do not want it to be Senators since they are mad at the Feds for "Taxation without Representation" and all that. So I say make it the Senators.

Plans call for a $440 million package that would include a new ballpark to be built along the Anacostia River about a dozen blocks south of the Capitol. The package also includes a $13 million refurbishment of RFK Stadium, where the team would play for three seasons while the new facility is being built.Going to the crime-infested swamp of SE Washington DC is dangerous enough in the daytime; I wouldn't even go near it at night...

That actually has something of a ring to it. Sort of rolls off the tongue.

Yankee stadium is located in the Bronx. Not exactly a safe gated community there either.

I'll believe it when I see it. The Padres were guaranteed to move here too.
