This week, I took grandkids to see Polar Express, despite disappointing box office scores. It is an AWESOME movie, today took my 80 yr old parents after Thanksgiving dinner, they too thought it would be a modern-day Christmas classic. (And thoroughly enjoyed it). Hopefully, word will get out to boost sales so that the industry will make more family-safe movies, instead of the ones they call family that have nothing but Oh MY G-d, burps and farts in them. (Plus disrespectful attitudes, belittling parents, etc.)

Tom Hanks is generally good in any movie he's in. He's the best actor since Tracy Spencer.

I've seen nothing but four star reviews for Polar Express. I may see it this weekend.

Hehehe.... The Warner Bros. network really put on a lovely holiday film on Tuesday night. They reran it again Thanksgiving night. I kept thinking - why don't they make more movies like this? Nothing like celebrating family and old-fashioned values.

I'm kind of partial to Stewart James.

I took my kids and mom to see it today. Great movie, and the computer graphics are unbelievable. It is often hard to remember you are not watching real actors. I wonder if actors are starting to get nervous thinking they may soon be obsolete.

Other than supporting family films, I can't see any other way to urge filmers to make decent movies.
Supporting them I have lately with gkids, saw Incredibles (stoopid, but safe), Polar 2x, and National Treasure (excellent).

There's just too much gratuitous sex and violence that its left people turned off. Much of its put in for the sake of sensationalism and profits. And for course, the culture dies a little more. Its not that women displaying boobs on TV and dropping towels shocks people; its that this kind of stuff has crossed the line of good taste and manners. If Hollywood can't aspire to a higher standard of decency, the rest of us can.

Well, I liked the Incredibles. Quite libertarian movie and surely was anti-PC, IMO. Something that is rare in today's Hollywood Liberal domination.

Polar Express is financed by Steve Bing. He invested about 80 mil on it. So far, the movie has made 58 mil in its 15th day. His other investment: Kerry. Bing gave about 15 mil.

Maybe the movie just doesn't live up to people's high expectations.
I've heard that after the magical illustrations and wonderful story in the book,
the movie has been a disappointment for many. I suppose when you
go to see it, if you've already read the book, forget about the book
and let the movie stand alone - hard to do, I know. But maybe that
explains the less than enthusiastic box office results.
