It doesn't smell like a damp laundry hamper on a hot day in August.

It's really about money, the competitors dont want French subsidy money going to this project. Understandable, but not good for the nation.

Q: What does a French romance and a French alliance have in common?
A: Both are brief, sordid, and completely without meaning.

Q: Why are French streets lined with trees?
A: So invaders can march in the shade.

Q: Did you hear that fireworks were banned at Euro-Disney?
A: Every time they fired them off, the French military surrendered.

TWO KEY QUOTES FROM THE ARTICLE:

"... pointed out that director Oliver Stone's Alexander the Great received funding from the French government despite not being filmed in France or in French."

"Oliver Stone's movie Alexander is French - his mother is French and he did the post-production in Paris so it's French, no problem. And this one is not French, can you believe it?"

NOT FRENCH ENOUGH? MORE LIKE, NOT ANTI-AMERICAN ENOUGH!

But a court judged it was too American to compete in French film festivals, including Cannes.

So apparently Fahrenheit 9/11 was deemed French enough to compete at Cannes. No shock there, but now they tacitly admit it.

But what have they done for us lately?
