Did anyone see Jerry Falwell on Hardball tonight?

TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: danforth; prolife; supremecourt
He said Senator Danforth (R-Missouri) who is resigning as Ambassador to the United Nations is Pro-Choice! I thought he was staunchly pro-life. Anyone know the his current position. He is rumored to be on list for Supreme Court Justice.

No, but Monica Crowley is filling in on Scarborough Country now. And filling in very nicely... :)

Monica opposite Dr. Ruth! HA!

Did not see it, never watch the program; however, I too thought Danforth was pro-life. Are you positive Falwell wasn't accidentally saying the opposite of what he meant to say...you know...a slip of the tongue? No matter which Danforth is, I trust Bush to know whether or not to put him on the Supreme Court. Bush will take a big, hard swing at that pitch, in my opinion, to make the right decision about High Court nominees.

Falwell and Mathews together. Double the reason not to watch that show.

How old is Danforth? I thought he was in his late 60s which I think would make him a bad pick. I'd rather see someone younger so the Dems can remember Bush for decades and decades to come.

First and foremost, Falwell is a Pastor, called of God to preach the gospel to the saved and unsaved. His allegiance is to another kingdom. He is of the world not in it. When he steps out of his calling into the political arena he demeans and devalues his calling and slanders the cause of Christ. When you accept the high calling of Pastor you give up certain rights so as not to politicize the Kingdom message. That is why Rev. Falwell is compromised today in Evangelical circles. When he was called upon for his stance on moral matters, like the Baker and Swaggert scandals he was acting within the call. When he became the spokesman for Moral Majority and now Faith and Values, he opens his calling to politics. That is a major step down and casts a cloud over all evangelicals in witnessing. He should shut up and feed his own flock instead of giving us a bad name. He has become a caricature of the worst in us.

Well said. To me he just 'smells bad' on TV. I don't like him, especially after some of the crazy remarks he's made in recent years.

There's nothing wrong with him being involved in politics. Only problem is, he's not particularly slick. But I think he knows that. He's read his reviews. But I'm not so sure he's doing more harm than good. And he has obviously thought and prayed everything through, and knows he has to answer to God, and not to us!

He does if he holds himself out as our representative.

Libs like Chrissy-boy love to get the caricature Falwell on. Nothing like ol' Jerry on national teevee perpetuating the stereotype of Christians as crazy fundies. I wish Falwell would fall off the planet.
