No, baseball is a bunch of suckers. The only way I would go along with deal if the city the put up 100MM in escrow, so my team got its ticket sales.
Just ask Jack Kent Cook.

I don't know about Cook but I am concerned that in these types of deals only the Ownwers and Players get anything out of them. Some economic studies have shown that in most instances the economic "Benefits" to a city or region either do not materialize or are obtained at the expense of other sectors - A sort of zero sum game. This is my concern in this case.

I sure as hell know I don't want to build a stadium for MLB in Washington, DC. And that is exactly what will be happening if this happens.

I suspect your sentiments are the majority's. Looks like some lobbying has once again turned Public "Servants" into an ATM for a particular interest.
As regards sports complexes, I've seen too many built and then, after a relatively short run, be blown up - Most never having repaid the Public part of the funding and few actually providing anywhere near the "Benefits" originally forecast.

Looks like some lobbying has once again turned Public "Servants" into an ATM for a particular interest. It ain't the "public servants" who end up paying the bill....
