He doesn't have to win, just force everyone else to start focusing on the illegal immigration issue.

"Tancredo ain't possible"

If the immigration issue continues to pick up steam it's entirely possible. The GOP establishment better start listening to their constituents or they're going to be in for a helluva surprise.

And even if Tancredo doesn't get the nomination he'll force the pro-Mexamerica wing of the GOP to address the issue. ....which can only be a good thing.

I'd vote for him over some of them out there, but Mark Sanford's still my first choice.

Exactly.

Expect the liberal (R)'s to try to slime him into oblivion, tho'.

I would if the other choice didn't include democrats and partial birth abortion, gun control, appeasement of terrorists, judicial nominees, and many more.

With that said he could count on my vote in a primary election, but I will vote republican one way or the other.

Yep, I fully expect it. But they slime him at their own peril. ....as they'll quickly discover.

Excellent. Rove will get him out of congress if he runs. It will be a lot cleaner than taking him out in a primary. We need fewer of these self-serving types in office.

Some will try to label Tancredo as being a "Buchananite," but there's one difference: Tancredo's positions are usually well thought out, and not moonbat material, the way Pat's are when he's off his meds.

I was always given the impression that the only difference between Tancredo and other conservatives is he's more strong on anti-immigration then everyone else, but other wise, all of his views are textbook mainstream conservative, i.e. lower taxes, free trade, reduce spending, and none of the populist economics.

Is that the case, because then, he could, on the minimum pull the election to the right, if still not be viable (I just don't think congressmen can get elected president in this day and age).

I like this thought. I am also interested in hearing more from Tancredo. I hope he does run. He's got the guts to stand up for what he believes.

However the dems will slam him, as they slam everyone who gets in their commie/socialist/liberal/crackpot ways.

I hate the dems.

He's got my vote. In fact, he got it already last November: rather than vote once more for "Open Borders Bush," I wrote in Tancredo. Go Tom!!!

What's Tancredo like on other issues?

Is he a straight-out Paleocon? Or is he a standard conservative (pro-Iraq War and the rest) who simply wishes for a hard line against illegals.

"I should have said 'Usual suspects flame away.' I guess they haven't seen this thread yet."

Would be real hard for the "pro-illegal" crowd to spew their, "Only a small percentage of Conservatives support Tancredo", considering he beat out their hero Rino Guiliani. To say nothing of garnering 73% plus in a race against the beast. But hey, who said they ever paid attention to facts :)

I'd vote for him over some of them out there, but Mark Sanford's still my first choice.

I like Governor Sanford a lot, and he's got my backing (I'm am now a believer).

All he needs is that one big thing of undoing something liberal and getting a conservative accomplishment, and he'll be in really good shape for 2008 (there is no doubt he can win re-election).
