The bastardized court system worked exactly like it was intended to do.

Actually if there is a "No" above 1/3rd than that's a good sign. It was at 43% for me with 329000 votes cast.

I like this paragraph from the latest article by Anna Coulter. This says it all.....

"Opinions about the Schiavo case seem to break down less on morals than on basic knowledge of the facts of the case.

There are a lot of telling facts, but two big ones are:

— The only family member lobbying for Terri's death is her husband, who is affianced to a woman he's been living with for several years and with whom he already has two children. (Today's brain twister: Would you rather be O.J.'s girlfriend or Michael Schiavo's fiancee?)

— Terri's husband has refused to allow her to be given either an MRI or a PET scan, which are also known as: "The tests that could determine whether Terri is even in a permanent vegetative state." (I believe his exact words were, "PET scan? MRI? What do I look like, a guy who just won a $1 million malpractice settlement?")

On the basis of these facts, Pinellas County Judge George Greer found that it was Terri's wish to be starved to death. She requires no life support; all she needs is food and water. If being (a) on a liquid diet, and (b) unresponsive to one's estranged husband are now considered grounds for a woman's execution, wait until this news hits Beverly Hills!"

MSNBC asked for a comment. Here is mine that I gave them:
Murder. This kind of thing, we thought, was put behind us at Nuremberg. Now every one of us is at mortal risk of running the displeasure of a Judge who can find as nonreviewable, unappealable fact that you wish to die, and that all your attempts to communicate are random vocalizations and twitches -- and thereby lock you in a windowless room under armed guard answerable only the that Judge who wishes you dead, where you will be starved and denied any water until your lips crack away, your tears dry up, your eyes burn and you skin dries up and starts flaking and cracking, you suffer incredible pangs of hunger and thirts and the ghouls of that "death process" chamber play serene music and comment on how beautiful you look. And then you will die and be buried in a place unknown to your loved ones. How kind! How Just!

Top Neurologist's Report on Terri Released: (excerpt.) Newsmax.com

"Spinal Exam: The patient's exam from a spinal perspective is abnormal. The degree of limitation of range of motion, and of spasms in her neck, is consistent with a neck injury. The abnormal sensory exam, that shows evidence of her hypoxic encephalopathic strokes (right side sensory responses are different from left) also suggests a spinal cord injury at around the level of C4. Her physical exam and videotapes also suggest a spinal cord injury is also present, as she has much better control over he face, head, and neck, than over her arms and legs. This reminds one of a person with a spinal cord injury who has good facial control, but poor use of arms and legs. It is possible that a correctable spinal abnormality such as a herniated disk may be found that could be treated and result in better neurological functioning. This should be looked for, as may be treatable. Thus, there may be an injured disk or spinal cord; the disk injury is more treatable, the spinal cord injury, if present without a disk injury, may be more difficult to treat. A person with a spinal cord injury and hypoxic encephalopathy will need different treatment and rehab recommendations than one who just has a hypoxic encephalopathic.

Interestingly, I have seen this pattern of mixed brain (cerebral) and spinal cord findings in a patient once before, a patient who was asphyxiated."

TERRY SUFFERED A SPINAL INJURY. WE WANT TO KNOW HOW!

The answer would have to be "YES". The U.S. Court System "worked".

You can also write a comment. This was mine.

The problem was that the Schindler's did not know what they were up against when they first went to court to fight for Terri's life. Michael used most of the money that was won by his promise to take care of Terri in a sue case for high powered lawyers to put her to death. The inexperienced lawyers the Schindlers had were wiped out and the false facts of the case were established. The future rulings were all based upon the false facts established very early in the fight. The courts only would rule on these false facts and would not let in new evidence that strongly supported Terri's love for life and her desire to live. The courts cared about the letter of the law rather the spirit of the law. The courts seemed "hell bent" on killing Terri no matter what and eventually got there way. The UCLA also was on Michael Schiavo's side and so was the media. The media was ready to eat up everything the death loving Schiavo team fed them. The media is also guilty of her murder. This was a case carried out by a litany of death loving, sick people who murdered Terri Schindler Schiavo in a country that is suppose to be the land of the living not the land of ghoulish murder of the defenseless, innocent.

It worked. but it wasn't the right decision, even if the "law" supports it.

There is no doubt, except for emotional people who can't accept the truth of her medical condition, that she was brain dead with no hope of recovery.

The judge ruled on the law as it was written, even though it was re-written for this purpose.

Ask if it was the proper decision, or if a different one was not possible, and you get a NO.

Ask if the scales of justice were applied properly, with Mercy's thumb counter-acting the harshness used by the judge.

Terri was brain dead, with no hope of rehabilition. So what? Her body was healthy, and her parents were willing to care for her. Their wishes, their hopes weren't considered by the courts. Their weight should have been placed on Mercy's side of the scale.

Terri was not suffering any pain, so thoughts of needless suffering doesn't enter the picture. She had no brain left. her entire cerebal cortex was gone. She couldn't feel pain, or even be aware of her existance.

It didn't matter to her parents. All they wanted was to hang on a little longer, hope a little more. Where was the harm in that?
What was the rush???

Now we need to make a better law. We wouldn't want to see a failure of law to the other extreme either, forcing someone suffering extreme pain, but forced to stay alive.

there is no cookie cutter law applicable to these types of cases. that is what judge Greer failed to recognize. It was too obvious to be an error in his judgement however.

there we go.

As you can see, her whole brain is gone, only the pigment which divides sections remains, and the brain sack which holds all the fluid which is what is left of her brain.

She could not "Know" anyone, be aware of anything, Or feel pain.

Just the same, it wouldn't have caused her any suffering to be kept alive either, if only for her parents sake, so they could have a little hope.
They just didn't want to let go yet. So why force them.
That's why I was against the courts.
