Michigan: Levin (D-MI), Nay Stabenow (D-MI), Nay

As to the former - Don't blame me, I voted for Rocky. As to the latter - she'll be going back to Lansing in 2006 if I have any say in the matter.

Michigan has pretty generally always sent evil people to the Senate, but this Levin character seems to be among the worst.

I noticed that about Byrd (D-WV) too. He's 87 and trying to decide about running again next year. If what you say is true, that is great news!~

Who voted for Priscilla Owens

No one, I hope, voted for someone who's not nominated.

(The judge's surname is Owen, not Owens.)

I thought the GOP failed to recruit the best challengers to Stabenow, thus making her retention of the seat likely. I hope this is not the case. One reason I read for the supposedly top-tier candidates not running is that they hope to run for Levin's seat next if he retires.

But anyway, Landrieu voted for Brown, which surprises me because she doesn't have to pretend to not be a liberal again until 2007 at the earliest. None of the other so-called moderate Dems voted for her.

I don't remember who the last good senator was. Griffin maybe? He was the guy Levin took over for the year I was born.(Last Republican was Spence Abraham, but he wasn't that good) The worst in my lifetime was Don Riegle. He's a crook - and was an uberleftist. Carl Lenin's just wrong on everything, as is Debbie Stab-me-now.

Stab can be taken out with a good campaign. Lenin's there till he wants out unless we have a miracle.

How does Iowa stand, generally speaking, when it comes to social issues? I sort of assumed it to be conservative, but Harkin doesn't even try to hide his social liberalism does he? Is it simply a case of him being able to bring home the bacon, as with the Dems in the Dakotas?

Excuse me, but I thought Liberman was one of the 14 who were not going to oppose Owen?

I thought the GOP failed to recruit the best challengers to Stabenow, thus making her retention of the seat likely.

The bad news is that Mike Rogers and Candice Miller aren't running. They were our best shots and our A-team.

That said, we still have a shot unless the GOP'ers abandon the race. Keith Butler has a shot if he gets help. He's not Alan Keyes.

Talk about a world upside down. One RHINO votes yea, the other nay, while a lib Rat votes yea. Those Rhino's are just unpredictable and untrustworthy. Haven't a clue what got into Wyden(maybe some backbone?).

The Dems are keeping the approval numbers under 60 for obvious reasons.

They said they would not oppose bringing her to the floor for a vote, not that they would vote to confirm her.

Nay Lieberman (D-CT),

I find this most distressing. I have defended Joe Lieberman on this forum. I flew him in a Learjet and I found him to be a decent man.

He was part of "The Deal"--why would he vote "Nay?"

I guess we finally see what that really means.
