key ones are Ben Nelson voted against her. He's someone who the republicans are letting off, now we should defeat him in 2006. Chafee voted nay. Hillary did too. Lieberman voted no. Byrd voted yes, shows he's worried about re-election.

I think the threat of pressure from women and from minority groups had a LOT to do with it.
I am trying to ascertain the mood of Democrats in the wake of this vote. Conservatives are still mad (myself included).

A lot more Senators voted for cloture than were in on the 'deal'. Curious how so many that found Owen to be extremely dangerous have flipped.

For the life of me, I can't figure that guy out. His votes are probably the most unpredictable in the whole Senate.
You just don't know where he's going to come out on a given day. I still think he may someday become a Republican.
My friend, I was being sarcastic. Lieberman is not a moderate. Lieberman is very predictable. Lieberman is a balls to the wall liberal. Lieberman's ACU rating for 2003 and 2004 was zero.
Can't get more predictable and liberal than that.
Not sure you're right. He is a Demorat, to be sure, but I get the feeling he's not happy with his Party. He may still entertain some aspirations of leadership within his Party, but his position on several issues is more moderate than most of his colleagues'.
I still feel that someday he'll switch Parties.
Lieberman's voting record over the last two years as rated by the ACU is 0% conservative.
Lieberman, on occasion does talk conservative. Possibly, that's why you might think he is more conservative, but he's -- not.

Inouye was absent and by previous agreement, Stevens paired his vote with Inouye (one YES and one NO to cancel each other out)
The final vote is 55 to 43, If Inouye had been present it would have been 56 to 44.
