Y'all just didn't get the memo -- actually, neither did I --that Black Tooth knows more about what "goes down" in L.A. than anyone else who has lived here for part of or all of their lifetime. If you can just remember BT always knows more than you, you'll be fine.

What's funny is that he tells someone they're wrong, restates what they said and then it's right! Yeah, funny.

I lived near 9th and Vermont during the 1965 riots, and distinctly remember National Guard troops on Vermont Avenue. Of course, BT would say no I'm wrong I didn't really live there and the troops weren't there; they were on another corner, on the 3rd floor... blablabla.

My point is that the quality of discussions on FR are deteriorating. When we're basically on the same page, we can assist one another with knowledge rather than going for the put down. In this case, we're each talking about our own firsthand experiences which is the most authentic knowledge you can have.

No need to get personal here.

I posted a link in #82 that indicates the ammo problems the National Guard experienced were in the 92 riots, not the 65 riots. Sorry, but that's fact.

I enjoyed reading your posts, and I was just responding to someone that alleged that the ammo problems were during the Watts 65 event. That was incorrect.

I don't know why you said this. I never once said the National Guard was not called in for the '65 riots. Not once.

Not to riot against, but rioting as an excuse to loot stores & engage in the age old hobby of settling old scores/slights/insults by burning the other poor sod out of house & home/place of bussiness.
And if in the process they can destroy several police vehicles maybe even a police substation or precicnt office they will have effectively reduced the ability of the police & city government to control that area .
While honest working folks may not care for that fact the gang bangers &drug dealers & pimps will surely approve.

Law enforcement officers are being shot and killed every week in southern California...

Every week?!

That's news to me. I live in the South Bay. Hopefully, you were only using hyperbole, because otherwise such wild misrepresentation would mark you as someone who plays fast and loose with the truth.

Well, 1965 is one thing, but what's going on right now may indicate a long hot summer on the way.

Word is the shooter ran a chop-shop (to the LA times, a "used car lot"), and he and his wife had a long history of domestic violence calls etc. There are folks agitating for their own reasons with these little "mini-riots", oh, excuse me, "demonstrations" going on right now. Things could well heat up if (when) the next drug-crazed criminal does something stupid and dangerous, and the police try to do their jobs.

Remember, 1965 started with a traffic stop.

Now, there are people demonstrating in support of a man who a) used his own 19 mo baby as a human sheild
b) had huge amounts of aloohol and cocain in his system
c) shot at his own teenage daughter when she tried to negotiate with him

The mother's not much better -- and only in that she wasn't the shooter this time.

So anyways, go BLOAT, is all you can do, and sit tight.

I may well loose faith.
