Over There is Anti-Everything
today | Me

Posted on 07/29/2005 3:01:15 AM PDT by Michael121

Over There got a lot of hype. It was BS and pure anti-American.

To those who say they "Support our troops" and if you listen closely they say that as an afterthought.

It is like they have to concentrate and remember to fit it in before they run out of face time in front of the camera.

"They" do not support our troops. They do not want us to win. They would be happy with more American Soldier deaths if it meant political power.

This was pure propaganda. It was anti-American all the way. But hyped as true and non-political.

The picture above is of a Pearl Harbor Veteran Houston James and an Iraqi Freedom Veteran SSgt Graunke. This is what America is about. This is what our Warriors are like in character and self worth. They knew the risks. They face the fear. It is not overcoming fear but looking it in the eye.

Going into harms way IN SPITE of the dangers. Running towards the sound of gunfire. Hoping to dodge bullets to pull out a fallen comrade. Not worrying about yourself except to say, I hope I make it to get to, and save my brother.

It is about going into the fire and just hoping you can survive the burns. But taking that step. With the knowlege that there are those waiting to put out the flames.

The lefties are scared they might singe their hair. They stand back and let others do the work.

I for one as a Veteran am thankful there are still those who will do the work others are afraid and unwilling to do themselves. Men like SSGT Graunke and Houston James stood in for others who will never even stand up.

They both are the America that I know. They are the heroes. They are my brothers.

Well said, Michael. You're observation about the afterthought "Of course I support our troops" comment is spot on.

I don't usually read vanities . . . but I'm glad I did on this one. Your words are concise, aptly put, and right on target. Good job, Michael.

Great vanity. But, by way of a suggestion: Don't let the grousers get to you. We know what is important, wholesome, and right. Let us stand firm in our convictions, unwavering.

When I saw the commercials for "Over There", they mentioned Newsweek and NYT glowing reviews during the promo. THAT was all I needed to see. No, I won't be watching it.

"Over There" message ties neatly into the chi-com news article that 30% of returning Iraq servicemen have mental problems.

Clear evidence that all leftist think alike.

I missed its premiere showing – fell asleep in front of the TV.
Did it make any attempt to show anything good that our GIs are doing (even in passing), or was it all blood and guts, death and destruction?

Thank you for this "vanity" posting. I hope it gets a couple of "bumps" during the day so more can read it and see the moving photo.

Great commentary.

The left is clearly on the side of the terrorists and does everything they can to enable them.

You cannot really support the troops without supporting the cause. And the left twists and distorts the cause so that it's unrecognizable to anyone who will listen to them.

-From Over Here where I can see the truth and see just how much lying is going on.

Some Freeper reactions to the show.

I didn’t think it was bad. It certainly wasn’t technically accurate, but I didn’t walk away with a bad image of the characters.

If people can remember that everything out of Hollywood is entertainment, the reaction might be better. I have seen few war movies – or cop shows, or … - that depict reality. They all depict the Hollywood version of reality - fantasy. The problem with the Hollywood version is that far too many people think it is an accurate depiction. They watch an historical drama and believe it is history. They watch a TV cop show and believe that every cop out there engages in firefights with bad guys armed with automatic weapons on a regular basis. They watch a war movie and believe all GIs are baby killing psychos.

Or they watch the news and believe what the reporters are telling them is the truth.

Appalling.

This series should die an immediate, unheralded death. And Stephen Bochco should be shunned by conservatives ever after.

If it bleeds it leads.
Death and destruction has priority over humanitarian accomplishments, and we can’t forget their emulation of their Great Icon of News Reporting – Walter Cronkite, the head of the America Desk for the NVA.
