When I used to live in Lincoln Park in Chicago, that air show week was probably my favorite of the year. Seeing jets flying all around town practicing during the week was always cool, and the show itself along the lake was awesome. For a couple years in a row, I caught much of the Saturday airshow right from Wrigley during an afternoon cubbies game. Nothing like the Blue Angels buzzing the stadium, and the crowd going nuts.

I'm not going to come down on you because of your service record, but in this case you are really wrong.

When you and I were serving (20 years USA RET), the combat lines were pretty cut and dried. Women didn't get out of the base camps in VN. Men did all the combat fighting.

In this war, there are no lines of engagement. An IED can get ya regardless of whether you wear a bra or not. And we are nation building, not conquering a country. this means that women search women, not guys copping feels, like in VN.

You are an old soldier, with old soldier crusader values, and they simply do not fit in the 21 century military.

Regardless of all I have said above, you would irritate us a lot less if you did not refer to our female troops, who lay their life on the line every day, as "CHICKS". Such terms cheapen their service, and you wouldn't like if I tried to cheapen your service to your country......Bob

Hey how about the chick who flew into a dead engine on carrier landing one of the Navy's finest and deceased.

Hey, how about the many men who have made fatal errors while they were flying? Or do they not count?

There are people out there who think that a penis grants infallibility to its bearer.

Apparently so, unfortunately.

Wait - are you saying it doesn't? Dammit, I could have sworn that was in the manual...

;-)
