First Pryor, and now McCarthy. They both made me laugh.

Met him once. Found him disappointing. Didn't strike me as a serious politician. Not until Bobby was killed did he seem to realize that we live in a dark world.

Sorry to hear this. Although I disagree with him on some things, I do recognize that he was a REAL maverick. A lot of McCarthy's views of late were anathema to most of the Democrat party of today.

RIP Eugene McCarthy.

That means there is one more yet to be listed for today. For some reason, this stuff always comes in 3s.

Now that he has passed over he can say hello to the 3,000,000 Cambodians his party doomed.

I didn't agree with his politics, but he was a man of principle and he had a fine military record. If I'm not mistaken he was a pilot during the second world war.

God speed.

I don't suppose it's bad to hope that the third one ends in "Clinton"?

Hmmm. The WABC radio presentation just said that the North Vietnamese scored a military victory in Tet '68. And that was why LBJ decided not to run for reelection. Eugene McCarthy was said to be the beneficiary if not the secondary cause for that abdication (Tet being the prime).

The Viet Cong & North Vietnam won in the hearts (and souls, it is hoped) of news presenters, but even NVN generals & Ho himself admitted they lost except in American news circles - jerks. Thence in hearts/minds of the American herd of citizenry.
