Very interesting Veritas. Can you tell if this is an offensive or a defensive type unit. For example, we have units that are for detection and decontamination that would be defensive vs. a unit that would have custody of the chemical weapons and the means of their delivery.

You mean the Iraqi Army? On page 9 there are the names and signatures of the Chemical Platoon Commander (also his signature on page 8) as well as the Al Qadisia air base Commander.
These Saddam documents just have to be killing the 'Rats behind closed doors.

Yep, actually militaries all over the world that don't have chemical weapons have "Chemical" units that are decontamination units.
However, I predict this thread will grow to hundreds of replies without anyone even noticing or acknowledging your question.
ABC News has checked these behind jveritas's translations, and everytime, they say they are right on.

I for one am glad jveritas knows Arabic and can translate these for us on Free Republic. I am pretty sure many others are.

I do not think that a third world army like Iraq will have an active Chemical Platoon if there is no active Chemical weapons program.
