Falwell: Anyone but Hillary
CHARLESTON, W.Va., April 7 (UPI) -- The Rev. Jerry Falwell told a group of West Virginia Baptists his main goal for 2008 is to prevent Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., from becoming president.
Falwell addressed the annual West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists, the Charleston Gazette reported. An audience of about 500 was gathered in the Cross Lanes Baptist Church.
Falwell had good words for President George W. Bush and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. McCain called Falwell an "agent of intolerance" in 2000, but is scheduled to be the commencement speaker this year at Falwell's Liberty University.
Falwell did not say who he would like to be elected president in 2008. He said it is too early to endorse anyone.
"We've been working very feverishly now to make sure that Hillary doesn't go in in '08," he said.
Falwell said the United States is clearly in trouble.
You'd better pray that it shows up. :)
I agree with you. Religious conservatives have been doing the lion's share of the grassroots political work since the Reagan era and all we get is rolled on issues that we think are important and contempt from the ingrates we work to get elected. After the McCain et al RINO sellout on the judical filibuster issue, I reregistered as an independent after 31 years as a registered Republican.
Well, because she is Satan's Daughter, perhaps it was appropriate.
It certainly doesn't stop the dims from going to every black church they can find to spew their lies and raise money during campaigns.
Hillary will fear nothing. She will shut own talk radio. She will issue all kinds of executive orders. Who would stop her? Who would be able to impeach her? With a stroke of the pen she could create national healthcare. We all know how she plays the game. She is a totalitarian capable of doing absolutely anything.
That is scary. I hope that the Manhattan project your tagline mentions is in the works already.
Hysterical!
Exactly.
I may hold my nose and fight like hell during the primaries, but I have to support the last obstacle to her getting back into the White House. It really would be a nightmare.
How about anybody but Hillary and McCain.
Hell on earth.
That's fine, but it he is the only thing standing in her way . . . . .
I am getting the sinking feeling that people are focusing on Hillary and not on their own side.
We should take the attitude that we will deal with whichever candidate the Dims put up but we REALLY need to look in-house first and get the best candidate out there that we can.
If we focus and worry about what the Dems are doing, our own house will go to pot quickly.
I will not vote for McCain. I will not in any way be responsible for that man ever becoming President.
I understand, Mike, but I hope we can do both.
Get aboard what train?
The Straight Talk Express? No thanks.
Oh, and before telling social conservatives they HAVE to board his Amtrak? You might recognize you are going to have to give the same talk to every group of conservatives out there. Because he's alientated everyone except the country club liberal Republicans.
CFR?
Judges?
Immigration?
Taxes?
Global warming?
Terrorist amendment tacked to the defense Bill?
Flirting with Kerry during 2004?
Condemning Christians in 2000? His sentiments are no different then our former U.N. rep or Whitman's. Falwell may be willing to sell out for political connections to McCain, but Falwell isn't a leader in Christian circles these days. His time is gone.
A pledge that will go unbroken. These Lips can be read: I will not ever vote for McCain. If you don't want a Dem in office, make sure he loses. Ditto Hagel.
