The son of former Governor Tom Kean (R) now has a seven percentage point advantage in New Jersey's U.S. Senate campaign. The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll in the Garden State shows Republican Tom Kean, Jr. leading Senator Robert Menendez (D) 43% to 36%.
Seven percent (7%) of voters say that they will vote for some other candidate and 14% remain undecided in this Democratic leaning state.
A month ago, Kean held a two-point advantage, 41% to 39%.
Kean has solidified support among Republicans since our last poll while Menendez has lost ground among Democrats. From an ideological perspective, Kean has improved his standing with conservative voters in the state.
Sixty-six percent (66%) of New Jersey voters believe that the U.S. should gain control of its borders and enforce existing laws before considering other immigration reform. Just 29% disagree.

wow that went up quickly....
I wonder which ringer the Dems have in score for the 2nd week in October....
This is good news, though it would be better if Kean were a more conservative candidate.
I can't help but wonder whether the pro-illegal immigration protests have damaged Menendez?
Good news ping
wow that went up quickly....

First signs of illegal immigration backlash.
It would be better if NJ would elect a more conservative candidate. Kean ain't much. But I think he's about the best the Garden state will ever produce.
I don't mind RINO's where that's the best we can do. What I hate is the RNC shoving RINO's down our throats in conservative states. Support the 'rightmost viable candidate.'
A Kean pickup here would greatly diminish any chance of Democrats regaining control of the Senate.
Menendez (my new neighbor, I kid you not) is going down like Lewinsky. Giggedy! Giggedy!
Menendez is a Cubano. To accuse his family of being illegals isn't accurate. Cubans enjoy lenient asylum laws not afforded to other immigrants. This has made some La-Raza folks resentful of the Cuban Exiles in Miami.
What is bringing Menendez down is Corzine. Survey USA's recent approval ratings for the Governors show Corzine is approaching Bush numbers.
Might just be.
I'm seriously wondering if the play Schumer made over the Ports Deal was a way to get people to think Democrat when it came to national security.
If it was, and this trend continues, I don't think it worked :)
It still appears to me that when people think National Defense, they think Republican. Now if we could ONLY get them to act on that and do it right.
Are there still Republicans in New Jersey?
I think it's a combination of Jon Corzine (aka Jim Florio II-The Sequel) and a backlash against the amnesty protests.
I'll take it. Good luck to Kean.
It's called 'voter fraud' and it's worth 6-10 points in Jersey.
Oh man, Kean will be wearing cement shoes soon if he wins.....Jerseyite Democrats are EVIL>
you and I understand that, but let's remember that Schumer's Braintrust (i.e. Hillary) has been trying to position herself as a centrist for who knows how long and we BOTH understand how well that's going to turn out....
I honestly think he only did that as a play to ween people off of the GOP=National Security idea. and I sincerely hope this is a sign that it didn't work.
Let's hope it's 6 as things stand right now then :)
Yup, the NJSC already set the precedent. Dems will use it again and again to retain control.
