If you are talking about H-2B seasonal worker program, it is a joke. It is tremendously difficult, time consuming and costly, having to go through local SWAs, Dept. of Labor, USCIS and then the consulates abroad, who often at the end of the process reject visa applicants who have job offers from willing employers who have already gone through all the hoops merely because the applicants can't show they own property in their home country.

Add this to the list of things that have gone right lately for President Bush: Americans appear to be drawing closer to his view on the immigration debate.

It's very sad to say, but the "deal" is unacceptable. I'd like to think that we can get the policies we want without damaging our party, but it's Bush and the open borders lobby that must change.
Secure our borders.
Deport illegal aliens.
Prosecute those who hire them.
No amnesty.
English is our national language.

As someone who comes has actually done manual farm labor (and within the last five years), I am sure we can deal with a "shortage" of illegal farm laborers. The price of food will go up as wages rise to attract American workers. So be it. It's better than the alternative. Capitalism can deal with it.

Don't believe your own hype. Senators voted based on the desires of THEIR constituents. And to a man, almost every sitting Senator still has a strong public approval number. And that includes idiots like John McCain. Same goes for all Congressmen. I'm sure Kay Granger gets lots of phone calls against Amnesty. Do you think Nancy Pelosi does?

The rants from the anti-Bush crowd on this site remind me of the rants from the pro-Nadar crowd in 2004. They were sure Ralph Nadar had a real crack at making a huge impact in 2004. Maybe even WIN! Of course, they VASTLY overestimated the significance of their outrage on the national scene.

I'm above the $75,000 level and my number one concern in the 2006 and 2008 elections are illegal aliens. I don't care if they are Rep or Dem if they support illegal aliens I will vote against them.

The election of Bilbray a few days ago and the replacement of the Mayor and city council of Herndon, VA are clear indications that voters are voting solely on this issue.

The White House can spit out whatever so called "positive polls" it wants. I believe that anyone who supports giving citizenship to illegal aliens will find themselves out of a job in 2006 and 2008.

Got a link to prove that? ("Then a vast number of their constituents are also contributers.") And I guarantee, anything less than big bucks won't get you a call back from a politician. How do I know? My cousin was a state senator in California (in fact, president pro tem of the state senate). I have heard the details of how this works since I was a child.

The WSJ's been doing it for years. I remember reading Paul Gigot's "Potomac Watch" column in the 1990s and he would blast any politician like Lamar Smith who wanted to get mass immigration under control. It wasn't even beneath Gigot to hurl racist innuendo just as any typical liberal would. They're good on many conservative issues but immigration is not one of them.

The tax amnesty in the Senate bill is insane. Illegals get MORE rights than citizens do. Crazy.

We have GOT to get it through our heads that it isn't racist for us to decide who to let onto our own property (country).
