That is one lousy thing to do to your employees, to prevent them from diversifying the employer contributed portion of their 401k.

And yet, when jobs in Houston were plentiful in the 90s, most Enron employees stayed on, even with a 401K program that raised the eyebrows of the more knowledgeable.

One of those worked with me for a while, in software sales. He said he knew that the restriction on stock sales in the 401K was a disaster waiting to happen, and he bailed after working at Enron for a year.

He also told me that "things like that, that seem too good to be true, generally are." His wife almost divorced him when he quit.

I would not be at all shocked if the toxicology studies show something,

And it will filed alongside "Autopsy: Vince Foster"

I couldn't help but check it out on DU. The theorists are going wild. The latest is that "Bush Clintoooone had him killed to prevent any skeletons in the closet from getting out."

Corrected.

Let's not let people - and the media - forget that the shady deals were done under Bubba's reign = anyone got a photo of Lay and Clintoooone playing golf - and the other perps - they were buds with Bubba. One wonders where the spider webs led.

the Bush admin came in and exposed the perps...

The libs get away with switching their scandalous acts and lies onto the pubbies. They do it because they know they can.

And how do they know they can?

Because we don't call 'em on it/

Well, I just saw the very large vacation home where he was staying in Old Snowmass and I knew it, knew it, knew it.

It definitely was one of his original five Aspen homes he was supposed to sell. He only sold four! For $21 million. To fund his defense. He claimed to be $250,000 in the hole when he went into the criminal trial. They cried "broke" all over town. I'd love to show them "broke" as I know it.

I'll look up the value of this one later. I don't remember any being under $5 million asking price (not getting price, however). And he had his kids turning in their home deeds for his bond in the amount of that one house value! Grrr.

Also, I'm not sure about what our local reporter just said. He was standing in front of that house in Old Snowmass and said that the Pitkin County coroner still has to do "the autopsy." I thought the Mesa County Coroner Kurtzman just said in the presser that he already did it. Maybe a 2nd one is coming up? Or maybe the reporter got it wrong.

Also, NBC just said KL still had the high-rise apartment and the Aspen home, totalling assets of $8 million, when he had told the court he was broke - in debt - minus net worth. Good heavens, lying until the very end.

from the DUmp:

EDIT: More likely the Bush Crime Family shut him up for good before he could 'negotiate' a lighter sentence by telling what he knows about King George.

WE have to alert Rush, Hannity, FOx et al and remind them of the connections to the Clinto admin = golf buddies, etc...too many people will try to switch the focus and gloss over the facts: These crooks were buddies with Clintoooone and did their dasTURDly deeds under his admin.

It was the Bush admin that investigated, exposed and prosecuted them.

In other words, cleaned up another mess left on the bottom of the Clintoooone admin's cage.

Additionally, someone was still flying him around, because he was in Aspen "for the weekend," according to one report - then back here in Houston on Sunday, according to some who saw him - then back in Aspen on Tuesday the 4th of July, where he died.

I agree with you. While the exposure on the scandal happened during GWB, the actions were taking place during Clinton time.

While he was a very corrupt and sleazy golfing buddy of bill clinton, I would not wish death on him or any of his cronies...

hmmm - has anyone done a recent search on how many Bubbas cronies - are still among the living? (Well, start the list after Foster and Brown - life is short, after all.)

Here's a start on the Enron/Bubba dealings -

" We have to bring these things back front and center to educate the sheeple who either forget or were too young to remember just who is it that death follows... On Nov. 22, 1995, for example, Clinton scrawled an FYI note to McLarty, enclosing a newspaper article on Enron Corp. and the vicissitudes of its $3 billion power-plant project in India. McLarty then reached out to Enron's chairman, KEN LAY, and over the next nine months closely monitored the project with the U.S. ambassador to New Delhi, keeping Lay informed of the Administration's efforts, according to White House documents reviewed by TIME. In June 1996, four days before India granted final approval to Enron's project, Lay's company gave $100,000 to the President's party. Enron denies that its gift was repayment for Clinton's attention, and White House special counsel LANNY DAVIS says McLarty acted out of concern for a major U.S. investment overseas.

and a LOT more such sweetheart 'contributions' are named in the article at this link - names that it might be ingteresting to check on;

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1997/08/25/time/notebook.html

Fits with all the illegal campaign contributions in swap for such things as - well, you all know: for a couple examples: China for military technology; 'non' campaign money from Buddhists Monastery (and checks from nuns, to cover illegal $) etc etc

We have to bring these things back front and center to educate the sheeple who either forget or were too young to remember just who is it that death follows... Tip

If it looks like a rattlesnake, and slithers like a rattlesnake and rattles and injects venom like a rattlesnake - doubt not.

Heheheh - I'm deeply honored that the DUmmies commented on my post ;-)

I guess I should just be relieved that my comment didn't elicit the blistering obscenities that some of the other Freeper posts did.

"Anyone who claims that Ken Lay destroyed his life is a loser with zero sense of personal responsibility."

"People who do harm to others and claim its not their fault because the other allowed himself to be taken advantage of are called sociopaths."

Hit the nail on the head. Wonder why you never got a reply on that one? ;)

"Sources from inside the Beltway indicate he had a bug up his ass. Literally. CIA spooks planted a listening device while he was under sedation. The electronic implant had dual-use capabilities -- it could also deliver a fatal electrical shock directly into the nervous system of its victim. Kenny was despondent and bitter over being thrown under the bus by his friend in the Oval Orifice and was going to detail crimes committed by then-Governor Bush related to attempts to win influence with the Taliban in Afghanistan. At the time, the Taliban was demanding concessions for an American oil pipeline being planned to carry crude oil across the lawless plains. "

ROFLOL! I gotta hand it to them -- they came up with nuttier things than even we attributed to them!
