"On Sunday morning, February 22, 1948, in anticipation of Israel's independence, a triple truck bomb was detonated by Arab terrorists on Ben Yehuda Street, in what was then the Jewish section of Jerusalem. Fifty-four people were killed, and hundreds were wounded. Thus, it is obvious that Arab terrorism is caused not by the "desperation" of "occupation" but by the VERY THOUGHT of a Jewish state.
So many times in history in the last 100 years, citizens have stood by and done nothing, allowing evil to prevail. As America stood up against and defeated communism, now it is time to stand up against the terror of religious bigotry and intolerance. It's time to all stand up and support and defend the state of Israel, which is the front line of the war against terrorism."

"On 15 October 2004, the fourth annual Palestine Solidarity Movement (PSM) conference, sponsored by the student group Hiwar, was slated to begin at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina...among the speakers that day was Brigitte Gabriel, a Christian who fled Lebanon for Israel during the Lebanese civil war and who now heads the American Congress for Truth (ACT), a Virginia-based organization the Durham Herald-Sun described as a "aimed at exposing the threat of Islamic fundamentalism." Ms. Gabriel delivered the speech reproduced above, about her life in Lebanon and her observations on the origins and nature of the conflict between Jews, Muslims, Christians, Israelis, Arabs, and Palestinians in that part of the world." As stated in Snopes.com
Not citizens - governments.
Citizens are willing to act, but they are threatened by lawyers when they do. Not just threatened - it is a sure thing that you will be sued, jailed, or humiliated by the press for acting on your own.
There was also Jewish terrorism in Palestine in the years preceeding 1948. Specifically, the terrorist Stern Gang had British blood on its hands as the result of several deliberate bombings.
One of its memebers even went on to become an Israeli Prime Minister - Menachem Begin.
Uh, why are you directing this at me? I didn't post the article.
How dare you introduce uncomfortable truth into this thread?
At Dook??? Only the protesters will show up.

Thanks, V. She's keeping pretty busy lately with Lebanon front and center again.
Classy Lady.
If she's ever in Chicago, I'd stop in to hear her speak.
bump for later
1. The British promised a Jewish partition of Palestine.
2. The British were warned of the impending explosion at the hotel.
When have such courtesies been extended to Israreli Jews?
Oops.
I should have known better.
You're probably wasting your time. There a certain kind of person who can remember things done by Jews sixty years ago, but not things done to Jews last night.
I heard Brigitte Gabrielle deliver an updated version of this speech to a mixed crowd that was about 2/3 hostile muslims. At the conclusion, she accepted written questions, and made a point of answering every one. After that, many of the audience tried to confront her on the stage, but the police intervened and escorted her away.
She was articulate, forceful, and compelling in her presentation, and anyone who has an opportunity to see her speak should not miss the opportunity. I also suggest perusing her web site: http://americancongressfortruth.com/
"In 1944, with the end the war in sight, Irgun, now under the leadership of Menachem Begin , the future Prime Minister of Israel 1977-83, began to attack the British administration in Palestine, starting with bomb attacks on the immigration offices, tax offices and police stations. Because the war was not yet over these activities met with condemnation even from the Jewish Agency and Haganah, the main Jewish Defense Force, and the forerunner of the Israeli Army. This disapproval did not deter Irgun or the Stern Gang, and in 1944 the Stern gang murdered Lord Moyne the British Minister of state for the Middle East in Cairo, and started a series of bomb attacks on British installations."
Did Lord Moyne get an advance warning? Guess not, huh?
Terrorism is terrorism.
There's also a certain type of person that isn't interested in admitting the truth.
But I guess I'm just wasting my time
