BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Al Qaeda's No. 2 operative in , Hamed Juma Faris al-Suaidi, has been arrested, the U.S. military and Iraq's national security adviser announced Sunday.

Al-Suaidi, also known as Abu Rana and Abu Humam, is said to be second in command in the terrorist group al Qaeda in Iraq, behind Abu Ayyub al-Masri.

Al-Masri succeeded Abu Musab al-Zarqawi after he was killed during a U.S. airstrike in June.

"This is a very important development," Iraq's Planning Minister Barham Salih told CNN.

Let's hope that a "severe blow" to aq will be a beginning to the end--that is, unless the aclu runs over to be concerned with this turds human rights.

Just damn...I don't think our people will ever learn...there is absolutely nothing to be gained by capturing these people. They should be dead.

Now, must we have to watch another Saddam trial...with the decrepit and despicable Ramsey Clark "defending" mr. al-suaidi???

Just damn!

With Zarqawi it always used to be the number 3 guy who went down again and again.

Now we've got crosshairs on the 2nd in line. Pretty soon it'll be the top banana.

Sounds safest to be #1247.

Since they tend to spill their guts after capture, I think it's probably a good thing that they captured this chump. Squeeze him dry, and roll up much of the rest of his so-called "organization."

What a sad, but true, comment. The dems are really hoping we lose in Iraq, and its shameful.

Not really. The guy who was #1247 a few weeks ago has moved up to #53 this week. As we pick 'em off, more get promoted. Anybody know who the new #2 is?

Holding my breath for the MSM to report on this and its importance.

Ok, this is a bad idea.

Listening to the news this evening it was reported that this guy has turned in dozens of his buddies, and many have been arrested, detained or otherwise disposed of like the trash they are.

We've been hearing this for some time ~ that AlQaida in Iraq commanders, when caught, buy their lives with those of their troops.

Seems like that's true.

What I wonder, though, is when we capture Osama Ben Laden if he's going to rat out Chucky Schumer?!?!?!?

We got Zarqawi a couple months ago and we all know how well that went. Sure stopped the killing didn't it? Who knows, maybe this will help but I doubt it. Still too many jihadists running around.

When Mecca glows the resistance goes!

I respectfully disagree. These al Qaeda higher-ups have a tendency to sing like canaries upon capture. It's kinda interesting how they recruit the uneducated to sacrifice their lives in suicide attacks, yet are unwilling to sacrifice their own lives when faced with capture. That type of hypocrisy reminds me of American Democrats.

I am sure this guy has already given information that will lead to a new round of numerous arrests and attacks. Perhaps the al Qaeda sheep will begin to realize that their leaders will sell them out in an instant in order to save their own skins.

Capture by Iraqis is a bad thing to have happen to you as an AQ type. Lots of names and other info to be squeezed out of you...

Actually, I think we're doing a great job with them.

They are so ineffective against Americans that they run around making themselves hated by killing Iraqis.

If ineffective against America's trained forces, then they'll be ineffective against Iraq's American trained forces.

And the Iraqis speak the language, know the culture, and will want to preserve their "status and position" in this new Iraq.

Expect the demise of al qaeda in Iraq and the end of the insurgency. Iran and Syria continue to be the major issues.
