Ack, I see you ended up getting the vent-rib variant.

it does the job. I rather like the sights, actually - very fast and 2-eye friendly

but... I'm going to have to re-stock the thing. I really need a fore-end with a rail, and would rather have a pistol-grip or thumb-hole stock than the traditional model.

I fired a Saiga in 7.62X51for the detail oriented gun thread following freepers. IT was nice. I immediately wanted one. The Saiga shotty must be nice.

I had wanted one of those but heard complaints that those bullpup kits are "sloppy and loose", I should assume your experience is otherwise?

How are the brackets that make up the stock on the bullpup attached? riveted? bolted? other? Could the stock, including the brackets not just the pad, be easily removed leaving just the squared off back end?

I love it when you talk Russian, but I'd guess it was parts for an AKM, rather than an AK. Or maybe it was even a WASR-10.

the buttstock is screwed onto the same frame tongues as would be a normal stock. the pistolgrip element hooks onto the front edge of the frame and is securely swivel-latched onto a piece of furniture pinned to the barrel, which once held the lower element of the original fore-end. the kit's fore-end element IS loose, and is slated for replacement when I get around to it.
The original kit sights sucked. you will note that mine has no front sight at all, and has a shiny aluminum adaptor/mount where you'd expect to see the rear sight - those are two custom mods I've worked into my bullpup.
On the other side is a rapidly detachable brass catcher (90rnd capacity) and a forward auxiliary charging rod and handle (as the brass catcher renders conventionally operating the bolt impossible)
Internally, I cut the trigger wire and inserted a 40tpi screw with nuts to make a trigger poundage adjustment. I wish it was accessable without a complete teardown, but oh well...
oh, and there's that nifty muzzle brake. damned good item, that. got it from Bushmaster.
with the current set up, I shoot 3" groups at 100m freestanding.
that's good enough.

Arsenal's are good Bulgarian AKs. I have an SSR made by global trades, so I know they are quality.

On one side a Saturday night special, on the other an assault rifle. It's one more klashnokov of cultures.

Ouch. That's a great pun. So great that you should be staked to an anthill. (Most puns only rate a groan; a few rate a wedgie.)

I was out shooting my Arsenal when you wrote that. It sure is hard to keep bullets in this thing!

ain't it, though? I can never seem to keep any ammo for my bullpup, and now my Saiga is showing signs of similar gluttony... it is simply too much fun to rack out two rounds per second of buckshot.

I must get some 10rnd mags... and see about the feasibility of a 20rnd drum.

"It was a robbery that just went wrong," Winters said.

Actually, it looked right to me!

Oh hey, as an aside, the parental units are moving to the New Braunsfels area. Bought a house and everything!
