Nice to see Jane Fonda in front of camera: W.House

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - White House spokesman Tony Snow could not resist a good-natured jab at actress Jane Fonda for appearing at an anti-Iraq war protest nearly 35 years after she earned the nickname "Hanoi Jane" for protesting Vietnam.

"You know, I mean, it's nice to see Jane Fonda in front of a camera again," Snow told reporters when asked about the march on Saturday. He did not elaborate.

Fonda, 69, joined tens of thousands of anti-war protest on the National Mall in Washington. In 1972, she made waves by appearing before the cameras as she sat on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun -- an incident she later came to regret.

Snow said it was "perfectly appropriate" for Americans to protest the Iraq war if they desire.

"This is a vigorous democracy," he said.

But he said the protest did not appear to draw the 100,000 people that had been predicted by the event's organizers.

Bullcrap. If she regretted it, she would not have repeated it.

Should have tried the b*tch for treason 35 years ago and shot her then! I've started to relent a little in my hatred for her...then I heard her speak Saturday and it ALL came back.

I was gonna say it'd be even nicer to see her in front of a jury for treason, but firing squad will do.

Heres something that will anger my Southern friends here on the FR. My leftist co-worker trying to egg me on in a verbal argument during lunch was praising Fonda's antiwar activism and after doing so asked "who killed more people Jane Fonda or Robert E. Lee? This was followed by him asking "who was the real traitor?" This guy is sick. I need to move to another cubicle or it's going to be a long 2 years to the election.

...and shot her then!

The classic punishment for treason, as I recall, is the gibbet.

..."who killed more people Jane Fonda or Robert E. Lee?...

Considering that the count of people killed in Viet Nam after the South was overrun, due in large part to the efforts of Jane Fonda, John Kerry, the Berrigan Brothers, Ramsey Clark, et. al., is nearly 2 million, the proper response to his question is "Jane Fonda, by a long shot".

Actually

Barbarella/Jane was pretty hot in those days.  Her next film was the one to choose to put her out of our misery, and is incredibly appropriate to the topic being discussed:

They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969) .... Gloria Beatty

On November 21, 1970 Jane Fonda told a University of Michigan audience of some two thousand students, "If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would some day become communist." At Duke University in North Carolina she repeated what she had said in Michigan, adding "I, a socialist, think that we should strive toward a socialist society, all the way to communism." John Kerry committed treason when he lied to Congress about observing and committing "war crimes". Yet the traitor was permitted to run for a Presidency he was not allowed to serve.

This is what aging, egocentric actresses always do when their careers go down the loo. Gives them something to do, I guess.
