Nice to see Jane Fonda in front of camera: W.House

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - White House spokesman Tony Snow could not resist a good-natured jab at actress Jane Fonda for appearing at an anti-Iraq war protest nearly 35 years after she earned the nickname "Hanoi Jane" for protesting Vietnam.

"You know, I mean, it's nice to see Jane Fonda in front of a camera again," Snow told reporters when asked about the march on Saturday. He did not elaborate.

Fonda, 69, joined tens of thousands of anti-war protest on the National Mall in Washington. In 1972, she made waves by appearing before the cameras as she sat on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun -- an incident she later came to regret.

Snow said it was "perfectly appropriate" for Americans to protest the Iraq war if they desire.

"This is a vigorous democracy," he said.

But he said the protest did not appear to draw the 100,000 people that had been predicted by the event's organizers.

you've tried to relent? I've got several friends (and a couple of them were a part of the Swifties) who were POWs and I will NEVER relent in my hatred of this piece of garbage. I agree - she SHOULD have been tried for treason all those years ago - and now I vote we throw sKerry into the mix....after what he said in Davos this past weekend....I F'ING HATE HIM.....

"They should have put down Barbarello instead of Barbaro".

You are quite right! Barbaro was worth a million times more than Hanoi Jane and I don't just mean money. I was sad to learn that they put the horse down, but if I heard of Hanoi Jane's demise, I would be celebrating.

Personally, I would put down anyone promoting Socialism or Communism, especially if they were in a position of power to do so. Threats to place one's fellow men into slavery is not something to take lightly.

Bullcrap. If she regretted it, she would not have repeated it.

Right on!

She has gone from Fonda Kerry to Fonda Jihad. So much for the positive aspects of evolution.

Funny, but the cooler thing is all those "celebs" are all washed. Up.

And that generation is going down fast. Phew.

Biggest generation now is Generation Jones. The Reagan Generation.

Let's make some changes in the RIGHT direction!

Why can't Jihad Jane (aka Hanoi Jane) be a good little Socialist and die?

My specific recollection of that "Excellent Adventure" is associated with other events of late July/early August 1972, and an article in either Time or Newsweek.

One of these days I'm going to have to get off my backside and go find a library with microfilm archives of old magazines and dig up the specific magazine article and photos. The most infamous, to the best of my recollection, made the cover.

Oh, to be only half the nice guy Tony Snow is, and to be half as talented as Mia T...

So true!

****

By the way, Mia T, I guess you heard that when asked a question about what she likes to do ....... 'The Beast' (Chappaqua Rose) said something like, "I like to clean my closets."

Does that not create a few interesting images in your beautiful head?

LOL

The Red Marxist Queen of The Universe certainly has enough closets to clean.

thx guys ;)

Heard about her closet answer. Didn't know it was you who posed it. congrats! ;)

The question is, is she only as dumb as she sounds? She's stuck in her '90s 'war room.' She doesn't seem to understand the nature of the new battlefield.

Did you read the latest Frank Rich? He takes her apart, bit by bit.

No I didn't ...... but I'd like to see the pieces.

Any hints on where to find the article.

Thanks for your great work again ...................

............ you never told me if you really are a "Mia".
