On Ann Coulter - Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic. (conservatives respond)

Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.

I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.

(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s audio of her calling John Edwards a “faggot” at CPAC today.)

---

Michelle Malkin -

***4:15pm update***

Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."

A smattering of laughter.

Not from this corner.

Crickets chirping.

---

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -

Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.

Here’s what she said.

“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”

I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.

Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.

I am so sorry that I offended you. Forgive me for not sitting in my underwear and obsessing over what was said a few minutes ago.

Anyway that was not my only point, but intended to support my assertion that the Hollywierd  'Thought Police' struck and will hammer the public into believing she said that.

Get it? If it is said often enough then it becomes truth.

"Really?? I'm a "lowlife"? Such pettiness speaks volumes about you."

chirp chirp

"I repeat--the likes of the Dixie Chicks would try to make this an issue of free speech. The public is not required to respond favorably to anything Ann or you has to say."

The Dixie chicks are anti American, Ann Coulter is a patriot.

The Dixie Chicks refuse to accept the results of their free speech. They insult anyone that doesn't agree with their view.

Ann Coulter welcomes the response to her exercise of free speech.

You seek to silence anyone that disagrees with you.

I wasn't going to ping this one because it's basically a rehash of the earlier thread, but you have GOT to see the twiested knickers crowd here!

Let me know if you'd like to be added to the Ann Coulter ping list.

yes. nobody is better at personal attacks than the democrats. that's their chief tool of debate. remember all the women who were accusing clinton? they were suddenly labeled by the left as ugly and fat and in need of plastic surgery. they wrote the book on personal attacks. ann needs to tone it down, but by them saying she brought things to a new all-time low, that's absurd. they're the ones who have almost a monopoly on that.

Oh, yes, cite Craig Kilborn, a late night talk show host.

What office does Ann hold?

"You're right, we should be supporting the LOG CABIN republicans instead....."

Understand this. Republican is a political party. Conservative is an ideology. When we can differentiate between the two, we will be better off. Democrats have figured it out and are using it against us.

All those moderate Republicans who Reagan brought over as moderate Democrats are going back home because our Conservative side refuses to embrace them like Reagan did.

our own untalented ranting idiots to match the left.

I disagree, I don't want untalented idiots. I want smart, witty, eloquent, and tough conservative spokespeople much like Ann Coulter. While she may have gone a little too far for my tastes on this comment, overall she shows so much more willingness to fight than 40 or so weak US Senators I know.

I seem to recall a similar outrage when Ann used the phrase "girly boys" to describe some conservatives. Some people are easily offended.

What's the big deal if she things that John Edwards is a bundle of sticks?

Personally I don't get it, but Ann is so much smarter than me...

"However, I'm sure everyone here would admit that if she was a balding, paunchy middle-aged man, with the same speeches and writings, she'd have no career whatsoever and would be completely unheard of."

You mean she would be Rush Limbaugh?

Yes. Democrats say things that are far worse and nobody seems to care. My first rule - no double standards.

I don't see that Ann actually called him a fagot. It was a hint. If she turns out to be right, I'll be impressed. If it turns out she is wrong, then it seems like a pointless remark. What is the Democratic party stand on homosexuality? Ask, tell and feign outrage?

If Seinfeld were still on, one might hope to hear: "He may be a fagot - not that there is anything wrong with that."

Look--go to post 95 to see who brought up the issue of "free speech." It wasn't me. I didn't say Ann did, either. You just did. As far as I can tell, most of your posts are non sequitors. My suggestion is that you try reading the thread before you post. Don't expect any further replies from me.

Hyperbole does you no credit. Are you seriously going to deny that these ill-timed remarks are going to be used against Republicans and will add some life to John Edwards campaign?

I don't anderstand, since when homosexuality worship became a state religion? It looks like in this country an "artist" can dip crusifix in a jar of urine, make photo of it, and the govermemnt will pay him a million dollars for his "art",
but don't you dare to say something negative, or even funny about the sadomites, they gonna eat you alive, and they try to smear everyone you been associated with, along the way.

Dear alice_in_bubbaland,

If you can't have fun at the expense of the opposition on your own turf, you've pretty much been politically neutered.

Watch your head, there!
