Rudy Giuliani-Like Father, Like Son? (VANITY)

The more we get into this election season, and the more Rudy's name is bandied about, the more the old memories surface.
I remembered a report, a psychological examination of his Father, the ex-felon, who had served time in Sing Sing.
And it struck me...like Father, like Son!
Everything about Rudy reminds me of his Father, so aptly described, in that report.
Self pity as a justification of his bad judgement; Egocentric to emphisize himself, his needs, his greatness; Personality deviate (flip flop) to "fit in", willing to do or be anything to get elected.
These are facts contained in that report about his Father, the question is...are they facts about Rudy, as well?

Barf Alert!! Rudy’s accomplishments are legendary and they were recognized and rewarded by President Ronald Reagan. To try and smear this man by saying he is like his father just makes you look like a fool.

Giuliani has long described papa Harold as a hard-working Brooklyn tavern owner, a “complete man” who taught him the “lesson of being honest.”
However, in examining Rudy’s family tree, Barrett discovered that Giuliani the Elder wasn’t such a sweetheart. In fact, Harold was a convicted felon, an armed stickup man who once spent time in Sing Sing after pleading guilty to robbing a milkman. Sentenced to 2-5 years, Harold spent 18 months in the stir before being paroled (Rudy, ironically, is a leading proponent of abolishing parole). Barrett also learned that Harold, whose rap sheet included a couple of other busts, worked as an enforcer for a relative’s loan sharking operation, using a baseball bat as his enforcement tool of choice.

hey, you got anything on his mother? Rudy's mom circa 1957: "I told you, that's my favorite lipstick! You don't just take stuff like that and forget to put it back!"
Vote Rudy in '08! His platform is built on a strong foundation!

If you read the report you will note that Rooty’s father had a weird eye twitch. Does Rooty have that?

The latest scoop is that Giuliani has a secret life as a cross-dressing cannibalistic serial killer. If that doesn’t disqualify him for the Presidency nothing will!

Agreed.
I’m far from a Rudy fan for so many REAL reasons.
But codemning a son for sins of the father...
a disgraceful attempt.

What a piece of crap. Rudy’s entire career is a refutation of this b.s. As U.S. Attorney he risked his life to destroy the NY Mafia, sending the heads of the Mob families to prison for long terms. He sent corrupt party bosses to jail and destroyed New York’s Democratic political machine. He helped clean up Wall Street and put insider trader Ivan Boesky and junk bond king Michael Milkin in prison. He won over 4000 convictions—with only 25 reversals—a career unmatched in modern times. How does any of this tally with the sins of his father—or don’t you understand what a smear is?

That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard.

Perhaps you need my glasses? Nowhere did I condemn him. I merely made an observation that, imo, he appears to have some of the same personality and character defects as his Father. Not too far fetched, is it, that the seed falls so close to the tree?
Admit it, he's a flawed person and politician.
He's not even a Republican, let alone a conservative. He was elected as a "fusion" candidate.
Remember that line?

Kooks? You mean conservatives? You mean people with ethics who don't want a control freak with questionable morals and political connections?
I work in the financial services industry, I have two graduate degrees, and I am non-religious. I have also spent most of my life in the New York area. I would be EMBARASSED to call Mayor Linguine D-ck my President.

“Kooks? You mean conservatives?”
It so happens that some conservatives and kooks are not mutually exclusive. Digging up medical records of a dead man and posting it on the web is sick.

I think it is quite hilareous. Not as funny as those who claim that Rudy is “likeable” or “strong on foreign policy”, but still funny for those of us who appreciate gallows humor.

I think this is an issue. Why not discuss it? I'm not smearing anyone, nor am I bringing up the dead, as one disgusting minded poster put it. I'm merely saying that I see a similarity. It might account for his transgressions and flip-flops.
I mean, you did know that he was a dem who worked to get McGovern elected, and then an Indy to give the appearance of neutrality to the Reagan admin., and then an Liberal Party member cum Republican, aka a "fusion" candidate?
Anything to get a job. Right?
Principles? Ethics? Morality? Come on, the guy hasn't any he could identify in a line up.
BTW, Jordin, most probably, but Blake could be a spoiler. :)

One expects to see objection to Rudy from many if not most on this site. But to keep the string of BS smears going seems to cheapen credible criticism. I would like to know which candidate can gain the support of enough voters in this country to win. Any of ours agree 100% or not is preferable to the dem. We have a war to fight and not one dem will fight it. So please stop frivolous aspersions and concentrate on how we win this in 2008.

I don’t need glasses.
I spent the $$$ for LASIK :)
Bringing his father or anyone else into it clouds the issue. There’s more than enough reason to distrust Rudy without performing amateur psychoanalysis.
Let’s stick to the ISSUES, because that is how Conservatives win.
