Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives this morning voted to withhold federal emergency services funding for "sanctuary cities" that protect illegal immigrants.

Anti-immmigration champion Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., sponsored the measure, which he says would apply to cities such as Denver and Boulder. He was elated by its passage, which stunned critics and supporters alike.

Yeah, it’s a good move on his part. But the bottom line for me on Tancredo is this. At one time he was a big noise on term limits. He changed his view when he realized he really liked the power, as all politicians do. No matter what, he weaseled his way out of his pledge. He thinks his precense is oh so vital and important. In my view no matter what he does he will STILL be just another lying, self serving D.C. phony. I do not have one ounce of respect for him.

This, BTW, mayors and gubnahs, is why taking Federal money is a BAD THING. Because Uncle Sugar NEVER gives you jack without strings attached. And you might not like it when those strings get pulled!

Let's face it--these "sanctuary cities" are free riders on the rest of the country since they go to Uncle Sugar to bail them out when they can't afford the social services they are giving away to illegals.

So Tancredo's bill is sound common sense.

My favorite part of the article:

"Tancredo said he thinks his amendment is an indicator that the House would crush the reform plan if it passes in the Senate."

Hopefully Bush and the other idiots who are trying to push this amnesty bill down our throats will take note.

Nancy Pelosi wants 70 GOP house members to agree to vote for Amnesty before she will bring it up for a vote.

Can anybody name me 70 GOP House members that will want to be out on the street looking for real jobs if they vote for this sham?

I bet there won’t be many.

This vote for Tancredo’s admendment is basically a test vote for the real thing.
And if’s thats true, it’s not looking real good for the Amnesty crowd in the house.

The stupid GOP amnesty senators and moderate democrats will be left holding the bag on this one.

Strangle the Senate/WH Amnesty Effort.

Okay, good. I _hoped_ that's what you meant, but I wasn't entirely sure.

There’s something terribly wrong with the first sentence of that paragraph.

Mr. Trancredo is NOT an ‘Anti-Immigration Champion’, he’s Anti-ILLEGAL Immigration.

...But I guess I cannot expect any better from the Rocky Mountain News. And then there’s TIME Magazine, where this week’s cover boasts, ‘Why Amnesty Makes Sense’.

The Mainstream Media’s coverage of this issue is maddening and down right deceitful.

Seattle just got kicked in the balls HARD... No money for big quakes, no money for volcanic eruption, Tsunamis... that’s gotta hurt...

On the contrary, it feels good. Signed, a Republican in Seattle.

>> Perhaps it’s the House starting to feel the heat. <<

I’m glad for the small victory, but I’m 100% positive that the Democrats figured, “eh, what the hell? We’ll just snip it out in conference committee.”

To: Democrat_media I’ll bet we could compose a Macro that would simply use a textfile db of those contacts and send the same message, one at a time, so filters wouldn’t stop it. Personalize it a bit, and use a mailmerge function. Great work, FRiend. 377 posted on 06/17/2007 12:51:30 AM PDT by IslandJeff ("I used to care, but things have changed" - Robert Zimmerman) [ Post Reply | Private Reply | To 368 | View Replies | Report Abuse ]

Thank you. That sounds interesting. Please Let me know if you can do that macro.Do you have any ideas on how to spread this list to other freepers and or to the rest of the conservative blogosphere? I just sent the 2nd block of emails and I think it worked for almost all of them. Me and some other freepers are working on this email list on another thread. Another freeper had other ideas. I'm going to hit them hard with those emails tomorow I will email and email and email them and call too.

Do you have any ideas on how to spread this list to other freepers and or to the rest of the conservative blogosphere? Time is growing short . The days of freedom are coming to end. It's up to the conservative blogosphere to save it. There is no freedom without sacrifice.

U.S. is last hope for freedom . Here is how they hope to destroy the U.S. and freedom:

Liberals and Bush want to turn the U.S.A into a socialist Venezuela or a 3rd world country with the passage of this Amnesty bill:

From the Washington Times: Amnesty Bill permits 193 million more aliens from the 3rd world

I hear this all the time, but without the 17th, the senators would have even more layers between themselves and the people.

Exactly what pull do folks have on the very rich, like Teddy "the swimmer" Kennedy, or Lautenberg? The Senate has become a rich man's game. It's almost impossible to combine enough small contributions to run for the senate. So, we have either very rich Senators, or union supported Senators.

The founders had it right. By building a layered approach to electing Senators, you reduce the problem of mobocracy and demagoguery in the election of Senators from a large state. The very size of the constituent body voting for one Senator renders the individual voter impotent. The fact that each state legislator needs to win an individual district, means that it's easier to unseat a Senator. You only need to get 51% of the votes in 51%of the districts to turn things over far enough to unseat a Senator. Thus, without the 17th amendment, Senators had to be much more careful about what they did. If they ticked off the wrong 26% of the electorate, they could be out of a job.

It's a lot harder to get 51% of a state aroused to dump a Senator, as the Senator merely has to pay off a few percent of the moderates to keep his seat in a challenge. It's also much easier to cheat in a state-wide election, as a few rotten districts can provide enough swing votes to ensure election.

“I enjoy the symbolism of this, but fear it will backfire if a tragedy in these places occurs and services are withheld.”

What is tragic about an illegal not receiving medical treatment? They sure don’t have such services available back in Mexico?
