Whe I come across a website that is downloading code, my anti-virus acts in one of two ways:
(1) It grays out the screen and tells me a site is trying to download code, then gives me the option to accept or not.
(2) It grays out the screen and tells me a site is trying to download code...but gives no option. Just blocks it and that is it.
Three times now I have gone to Drudge and I was not given the option to proceed. My anti-virus viewed the content as so hostile it was number 2 only.

I use Opera and Firefox....and have Spywareblaster, Ad-Aware SE and a-squared anti spyware....and I have no problems with Drudge. My spyware packages pick up nothing from Drudge....

Sounds to me like someone is selling software.
(not that there is anything wrong with being a spyware-scamming poofter)
I haven’t accessed the Drudge site in over two years. It choked my operating system.
Many of these downloadable spyware programs are worse than spyware, and some are spyware. Always do netsearches before installing anything, and NEVER install something from a popup that says "Spyware detected".
For one of the worst offenders, a company with many judgements and death threats, netsearch "SPYLOCKED.COM".
These people have to be stopped, by violence, if nothing else.
I only download well reviewed packages...that have a track record and high marks

I’m not sure what’s up with Drudge’s site, but there have been a lot of complaints regarding pop ups and spyware, when one accesses his web page.
It’s a shame. His site is where I found Free Republic. Know what? I have a new security system from Verizon. I’m going to go to his website, just to see what happens.

the only problem I have with drudge is when I try to view a video from his sight it reboots my computer every time. Anyone else experiencing this?
Well I went there, and so far no problem. Hmmm....
Chances are, folks that have problem with Drudges site are already infected with adware and don’t know it. Lots of the adware fires off of OTHER advertisements. A common thing is for them to replace advertisements on someones site with their own (basically hijacking advertising space). Matt DOES have ads on his site, but no adware/spyware/viruses.
I protect myself is a couple of ways
1 - Google “Mike Skallas” and install his Hostfile ad blocker. This stops a ton of stuff in its tracks by blocking advertisements from ever getting to your computer.
2 - Use FireFox, and install the “NoScript” add-on. It allows you to prevent bad JavaScript from being executed. It works on a whitelist system. If you have a site you trust and want to enable JavaScript for (your bank for example), then you can whitelist that domain.
3 - Don’t install anything that you aren’t positive what it does, and what it contains. I usually google product names along with the words “adware” and “spyware” before installing just to see if there’s anyone out there complaining about it.
Best solution to this is to avoid using Microsoft Windows to surf the Web. I use Linux with either Opera or Firefox. No problems here.

It happens intermittently. Three times it has set off the alarms of my anti-whateveritis program.
Let's examine the logic in this one. I go to Drudge 405 times a day. I don't have software that detects what others are reporting. I have never had a problem. Therefore someone must have Drudge on a hit list?
Must be nice to roam the world (and surf the net) in bliss, excusing every warning as nothing more than nothing.

Oh, and a question. When using word and the window (called "a pane" in OSuX) gets up behind the menu bar, is there a fix short of crashing Word?
And if you do crash, is there a way to get your work back or is it lost forever?
