After monitoring many of these websites for months I came to the sure conclusion that there is little intelligence value that they can provide but they are doing much harm by recruiting terrorists all over the world and teach them how to make car bombs, suicide explosive belts, sniping, insurgency war, etc...

It is better to make the enemy BLIND, DEAF, and MUTE rather than wait for a lucky moment where we can find some little intelligence about someone and because they are so many of them and because they are very careful to not give sensitive information on the public forums but rather in private chat rooms, and they are taught very well how to hide their IP addresses.

It is better to shut their websites and forums down and simply prevent them from communicating.

This will be a great idea as well but we need to have the FBI and other agencies aware of this action before hand or else we may end up in jail accused wrongly of setting up terrorist websites.

Ummm... if we know about the sites and can monitor them, isn’t it better to NOT shut them down?

Think about it - shut them down, lose the intel leads.

It’s sort of history repeating itself back when we cracked the Enigma code and had to decide how much of the information we could act on so the Nazis did not suspect the code had been cracked.

There is little intelligence value we can get by monitoring them. As long as we cannot get the IP addreses of all these terrorists and technically it is proven to be very difficult because they are experts in hiding it then better to shut it down and make them unable to communicate.

The British government spent 2 years tracking a master of internet terrorist called "Irhabi 007" and they could not get his IP address. They only got him when they arrested 2 other terrorists who know him.

Those are the same website and it is one of the most prominent terrorist websites on the internet. This website was hosted by an American internet provider until yesterday July 18 2007 when it was shut down due to terrorist activities. Now suddenly it is up and hosted by your internet firm.

Yes both liveleak and youtube are guilty of indirectly spreading the terrorist materials. I noticed yesterday the terrorist forums and websites were ciruclating this youtube video:

I posted an text of the e-mail I sent to each internet provider asking them to shut the terrorist website or forum that they are hosting. You may save some time and use those same e-mail texts if you wish to do so.

Not to say it’s completely adequate but FBI is doing both domestic and international cyber projects.
