On the morning of Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 Cong. Ron Paul (R-Tx), candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, was interviewed by the editors and staff of Human Events. The following is a transcript of that interview which has been edited for length.

HUMAN EVENTS: Congressman, thank you very much for coming. You’re kind of a hero to a lot of our readers and you’ve had pretty good success, in terms of fundraising in the campaign and gaining some attention, but you seem to be mired -- at least, the latest polls -- way down in the two percent range. Can you tell us why do you think you’re down there, and what are the other guys are doing that is making them more attractive?

I’m sick of posters getting banned from political discourse. We’re are still in America....right?

It's nice to see someone still stand up for the First but many or most of us RP supporters will probably soon be banned so I'm dubious that it'll accomplish anything to skirmish about it.

So your claiming the 19 hijackers crossed the border illegally, or is it you can’t focus on the topic at hand?

We were being attacked - since 1972 btw - by Islamofacists that want us all dead because we won’t kneel five times a day facing Mecca, and praising Allah.

These scumbags we’re fighting are very very clear about this. I can’t help but wonder why Ron Paul refuses to believe both the Bush Administration, the Clinton Administration, AND Al Qaeda.

Perhaps the reality is just to frightful for him to digest....I’ve run into quite a few like that, the odd thing is most of them hang out with Rosie O’Donnell and company.
