The Final Face-Off ... ( looks like it's going to be Hillary vs. Rudy)
American Spectator ^ | 8/9/2007 | R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr.

Posted on 08/09/2007 4:37:27 AM PDT by IrishMike

The infallible Washington Times reports that up for sale is one of the most famous scenes of infantilism in the 20th century, "Woodstock." Actually, what is on the block is the late Max Yasgur's New York farm, 38 acres of which were used for the 1969 Woodstock music festival that hagiographers for the "1960s Generation" have ever since boomed as a pivotal event in American history. Such rock singers as Jimi Hendrix and Richie Havens got together before a stupefied crowd of some 500,000 eternal children to sing of peace, and freedom, and mind-numbing substances, even the most feeble of which have now been shown to be extremely deleterious to intellect and spirit. Better it would be to inhale Marlboros than to fool with the proscribed substances that eventually killed or demented many of the singers and attendees in that famous field.

As for "peace and freedom," wars have continued and the specific war that the troubadours of Woodstock had in mind ended only when our Democratic-controlled Congress broke an American pledge to send support to embattled South Vietnamese forces. The North Vietnamese communists beat them. .... Drunk and disorderly rockers never pacified any region I know of, and many have lived irritable and belligerent lives, leaving children and other loved ones in a hell of a mess. ........... As I have been noting of late, the aging 1960s generation -- divided as it has always been by its left-wing and right-wing -- is now facing its political swan song. The Republicans and the Democrats will probably nominate members of this generation to battle in 2008 one more time. Now the face-off is on again, probably with Hillary opposing Rudy.

I think they will find out Hillary is actually Osama Bin Laden in disguise and she won’t make the actual elections.

The South isn’t voting for a gun grabbing abortionist.

Let me rephrase that:

Conservatives in the South won’t turn out for a gun grabbing abortionist.

And as we all know, being dead is no bar to being elected.

Thanks for the info on Mo and above is standard fare politics for places like Chicago, among others.

Actually, I'm semi-serious about starting a write-in campaign for Moe if the major parties come up with their usual unfit fools, which is why I looked up his current 'address', which is needed for a write-in vote in some places.

The problem with going third party as a protest vote is that it gives the third party ideas above its station and gets ignored by everyone else. A significant vote for a man who was a professional fool and is now dead would send a pretty unmistakable message to all concerned.

Gore vs Thompson is more likely.

If it is Gore, isn’t it odd how immature he is to run? I could never vote for a man who carries a grudge and who lies to the public while making a lot of money off of his lies.

Janet Fogler, World Net Daily, 8/13/07:

A Newsweek poll showed that 51 percent of voters don't know where Rudy Giuliani stands on abortion, and 12 percent mistakenly think he's pro-life! Seventy percent don't know where Giuliani stands on same-sex "marriage," while eight percent mistakenly think he supports a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.

Just what do you suppose will happen when people find out how pro-abortion and pro-homosexual agenda Rudy Giuliani is? According to the same poll, he's in for a 40 percent drop on abortion. And another 36 percent nosedive on marriage.

Rudy will prosecute the war and cut taxes, we just need a filibuster majority in Congress to stop any other BS he might try to pull.

You're sadly mistaken if you think 40 Republican senators are going to filibuster legislation pushed by a President from their own party.

Of course, this analysis leaves out one small detail -- that Ghouliani or a Democrat will be nominating judges to the judiciary for eight years. Given the Ghouliani appointed liberal judges by an 8-1 margin in New York and has been trying to redefine what a strict Constitutionalist is, there is no reason to believe he won't be appointing David Souter types to the courts.

And, let's not overlook the devastating impact in Congress. The party in the White House almost always loses seats in Congress. With a social liberal like Ghouliani in the White House, it's very likely that conservative Democrats will reemerge and reclaiming multiple seats in the South. The parties will be realigned in Congress to where they were before Reagan took office.

It's inescapably stupid to think electing liberal and RINO Republicans is going result in anything positive for conservatism.

The strategy has failed every time it is tried -- from Christie Todd Whitman to Michael Bloomberg to Arnold Schwartzenegger.

It's utter nonsense to claim that a Reagan conservative can't win the Presidency.

When Fred enters the race in 2009, this whole debate will be tabled as Fred dominates the race...

Yep, still waiting for Fred to get in before it’s all over.

Ya know, SOME folks would wait for the primaries to decide on who the candidate is gonna be. Especially since the first one is at least four months away.
