Science Fiction writers have a Conservative bent, Scott is a rat, I have never read his stuff, so I can not judge his political bent, in his writing.

One of the things that I have noticed is the number of kids enlisting. I was at the Supermarket the other day and the Cashier said, while I was buying a carton of butts, "Can't smoke, have to my lungs clear, I enlisted in the Air Force.

I told her, "When I did my Final PT test in Infantry AIT, 1965, I was on KP, I smoked a half of a pack (Humps) from 0300 to 0830, ran the course and got the hell out of that place.

Let's just hope that the American people have sense enough, in the middle of a war, not to elect Tokyo Rose as commander-in-chief.

Beautiful! Too bad it's too long for a tagline!

There are a few bumper-stickers inside as well. But he just won’t write short opinions. :^)

I loved the meticulous disassembling of possible counterarguments he did here - unyielding logic. Worth my coffee break as well.

Communications? In this Administration? Is there such department? Don’t let me start on that. Out of many things they do right, communications isn’t...

He may be a rat, but he is a much smarter than average rat that made the jump to the land of reason.

He has some outstanding essays on his site. http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/index.html

His fresh articles appear in the Rhinoceros Times, Greensboro, NC: http://www.rhinotimes.com/greensboro/

"I’m glad at least one science fiction writer hasn’t been swept away by Star Trek Next Generation PC nonsense."

Picard and his crew were the biggest bunch of space sissies since Pigs in Space!

I’ll second the doghouse remark.

“They discovered — too late for Hillary, since it came after she cast that vote for the Iraq invasion — that the Iraq War was a great stick to beat the Republicans with. It won them back control of both houses of Congress in 2006, and they fully expect it to win them the White House in 2008”

So sorry Scott - but.....

Dems won in 2006, not because of the war, but because Republican voters couldn’t see any real difference between dems and Pubbies - and stayed home. They spend the same, pass crap like NCLB and so on.

The Dems won by a razor thin, fraction of a per cent margin. If Republicans want to get back into the drivers seat, they had better show how they are so very different than the Dems.

You know I loved his books when I was a kid, then I got older and found out he was a democrat...

After 9/11 Orson Scott Card has redeemed himself over and over again.

Ender’s Game is still one of my favorite books of all time.

Thanks for the ping. He absolutely nails it, except for one omission. The “Smartest” people of the American Left are convert Communists, and their goal isn’t only their own political power, it is to destroy America.

Howdy joebuck. Are you thinking of Dan Simmons? Simmons is another Sci-fi writer that sometimes puts out conservative essays and short stories. He’s the cat who wrote the famous time-travel islamic horror-show story that ends in a three word phrase that isn’t revealed to the reader.

Yep, that's what I was referring to. I thought for sure that story was by Orson Card. There ought to be a law against writing a story that good and then leaving the end hanging like that. I need some closure here!

Yeah all those militarized pansies did was fly around the galaxy GROKing each other. No wonder the Borg found them easy pickings.
