As I said at the GOE rally, the Iraq Veterans Against The War are out to smear this generation of military as "babykillers" the way their mentors the Vietnam Veterans Against the War did during the Vietnam era. Once again, our country needs Winter Soldiers. Don't let the Vietnam Veterans Against the War call TWO generations of vets "babykillers".
But I never expected that they'd give away their intent by calling it "Winter Soldier" just like their mentors.
Winter Soldier was a series of 109 interviews that were turned into a book and film. According to B.G. Burkett's investigation of Winter Soldier in his book Stolen Valor, many were phony soldiers that never served, others like VVAW leader Al Hubbard served but not in Vietnam, John Kerry served in Vietnam but not in Cambodia during Christmas under orders from Nixon as claimed and others served in Vietnam but had their stories refuted by others.
The Iraq Veterans Against the War ARE the NeoJohns, the Kerry Wannabes and they were mentored by the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, in particular VVAW leaders David Cline and Bill Perry.
There's the direct links to their the web pages at the bottom of this excerpt: In 1971, over one hundred members of Vietnam Veterans Against the War
gathered in Detroit to share their stories with America. Atrocities
like the My Lai massacre had ignited popular opposition to the war,
but political and military leaders insisted that such crimes were
isolated exceptions. The members of VVAW knew differently.
Over three days in January, these soldiers testified on the systematic
brutality they had seen visited upon the people of Vietnam. They
called it the Winter Soldier investigation, after Thomas Paine's
famous admonishing of the "summer soldier" who shirks his duty
during difficult times. In a time of war and lies, the veterans who
gathered in Detroit knew it was their duty to tell the truth.
Over thirty years later, we find ourselves faced with a new war. But
the lies are the same. Once again, American troops are sinking into
increasingly bloody occupations. Once again, war crimes in places
like Haditha, Fallujah, and Abu Ghraib have turned the public
against the war. Once again, politicians and generals are blaming
"a few bad apples" instead of examining the military policies that
have destroyed Iraq and Afghanistan.
In March of 2008, Iraq Veterans Against the War will gather in our
nation's capital to break the silence and hold our leaders
accountable for these wars. We hope you'll join us, because yours
is a story that every American needs to hear.

the true nature of military occupation.
On the weekend of 13-15 March, 2008, Iraq Veterans Against the War will
assemble history's largest gathering of US veterans of Iraq and
Afghanistan, as well as Iraqi and Afghan survivors. They will
provide first hand accounts of their experiences and reveal the
truth of occupation.

reveal truth in the way that only those who lived it can.

Only one of the good things about this movie.

Ditto, and Amen! Vietnam Vets have a special place in my heart, although I have the deepest respect, love, and appreciation for all of our veterans and for all of those who serve.
i believe PRAYER WORKS.

Yes, prayers Mary...I’m so sorry about your brother. May it comfort you, and your family to know that others care.
We may not have known your brother personally, and may never know your family, but we love you, and thank you all for the sacrifices made on our behalf. God bless.
Same to you, SW, and for all of our veterans. Welcome home, and thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
fyi, i also pinged "Mountain Flower", our GOE Prayer Warrior, on behalf of Mary's family & our departed brother-in-arms. (i know not whether my prayers are heard/answered, but i believe Mountain Flower's are.)
the night before GOE I, she asked me what i wanted her to do as a GOE Marshal (as she was NOT a LEO/combat vet & had come all the way from SD to help). i said, "Pray HARD for all of us not to have blood running in the streets of DC", which is precisely what i expected. we had NO serious violence & only one serious incident (a WWII vet who fell down a flight of stairs).
as a result of Flower's efforts on our behalf, she was voted an "honorary RVN VET" by acclimation of all the Marshals.
expect a miracle.

Thank you! and PING
But I did have a hippie spit at me September 15th in DC while I heckled their march with a half mile hailer. He missed me.
BUMP !!!
‘The irony is that leftists of all stripes are the real “babykillers.” After all, they have been killing American babies since 1973.’
BINGO !! But the left wing media and politicians don’t seem to have the intellect to connect the dots.
stand watie, God bless you and thank you for your service to our great country!
Doctor Raoul, thank you for this alert and for all you do to support our military and our country. God bless you.

my Army service was "nothing special". i was just a "plain vanilla" IN & MP guy.
i was, however, HONORED though to KNOW a LOT of hero-martyrs, who DESERVED public acclaim like:
1LT Joe March, who was with COL Merrill in WWII (too many medals from several nations to count = fwiw, in the mid-80s he & i went to a fancy cocktail party @ Ft Meade OOM, where the invitation said "mess or dress blue uniform with all decorations. = Joe didn't have enough room on his chest for HIS!),
MG Cook, CG 29th IN Div (LT) (hero of WWII/Korea/RVN),
MG Haley G. Maddox, who was with GEN Patton (3rd Army), who was Commandant of Cadets in my "military school days/DAZE",
CPT Roger Donlon, MoH (who taught our class when i was at USAIS),
SSG Fred Shue (who gave new meaning to the word SNIPER!!! Fred spent MANY days "behind the lines".),
PO3 Wayne Thomas Bankhead (acting CPO & carpenter's mate, USS Champion, WWII & my uncle)
LCPL Cloyde Pinson, KIA RVN (my prep school roomie!)
and a host of others, both living & "promoted to Glory".
