National Media's Refusal to Cover White Couple's Murder (snopes confirms)

OK, so let's create a level playing field here. I have not even heard of this on CBS, ABC, NBC or any of the cable news services, even FOX NEWS. OR in any of the Newsrags or other publications. Read this and weep.

Bet you $20 you did not hear this on the national news.

The animals pictured below car-jacked, then raped Christopher Newsom, cut off his penis, then set him on fire and fatally shot him several times while they forced his girlfriend, Channon Christian, to watch. An even more cruel fate awaited her!

Channon Christian, was beaten and gang-raped in many ways for four days by all of them, while they took turns urinating on her. Then they cut off her breast and put chemicals in her mouth ... and then murdered her.

Where be the Revs Al and Jesse? Are they providing counsel and help to the families of the victims?

Of course not - the victims were white

Why hasn't this received National coverage by the news media like the Duke "rape" case?

Why hasn't the NAACP, ACLU, New York Times etc, called for an investigation?

Must be cause the victims were white

Why hasn't the FBI been called in to investigate this as a hate crime?

I had to take several, several breaks while watching Schindler's list. I waited until it came out on tape and even then I had to have support with me...but I knew I had to do it, So I understand.

Ddo not have time to research here as am going out; but it may have been Jan 7th; that the victims were found. They were MIA for a few days, if my recollection serves me. (And it may not!) But this would account for the days of rape and torture that the girld endured w/o benefit of early rescue; should a New Year's outing have been their plan.

Here is my problem with over publisizing race tinted stories-way too many people extrpolate from these stories that,for example,because a group of blacks in Knoxville commit a horrific crime against two whites,then logic follows that whites need to”beware of the n———”cause what happened to the couple might happen to us.Few people will SAY that but many sure do THINK it.
Same with the James Byrd case.A few ignorant white racists killed an innocent black man.So the media then whips blacks into a frenzy that “whitey is out to get Y’all so call on Al and Jesse now”.
Either way,all these strories do is make it easier for racial strife to proliferate.

I do recall seeing old WW2 newsreels of the Allied soldiers liberating the camps.Those emaciated and nearly dead souls appearing into the camera still haunt me today.
And I think that is good.

The non-resistance doctrine

I would like to think that this one died on September 11^th, but I know there are still people who think that if you give the robbers what they want, they’ll go away without hurting you. Richard Poe wrote about this just before the planes full of unarmed, non-resisting victims hit the WTC, pointing out that the five victims in Wichita were unarmed, and unable to resist. Poe wrote:

According to University of California, Berkeley criminologist Franklin Zimring, the best way to survive a robbery is through "active compliance." in other words, do exactly what the criminal says, as quickly as possible.

Don’t believe it. Fight back.

We don’t want to judge the dead, but if you don’t learn from the mistakes of others, you may die yourself.

You are less likely to be hurt if you fight back with a gun. Even if you are forced to fight back without one, you have more control over your fate.

And there are worse things than dying.

Richard Poe wrote, with regard to the Wichita crime:

There is another reason for people to think twice before engaging in "active compliance." Victims who choose passivity risk far more than mere injury or death.

On December 14, 2000, a young schoolteacher – identified in the press only as "H.G." – went to visit her boyfriend Jason Befort, 26, at his townhouse in northeast Wichita, where he lived with two other men. As Jason and H.G. lay in bed, the porch light came on and they heard one of the roommates Aaron Sander, 29, talking to someone.

The next thing they knew, "the bedroom door burst open," the woman later recalled in court. "A tall black man was standing in the doorway. He ripped the covers off of me, and I don't remember what he said. Right after that, Aaron was brought in by another black male. He was kind of just thrown onto the bed."

The two men pointed guns at their prisoners and demanded to know who else was in the house. When all occupants – three men and two women, all single, white professionals in their twenties – had been rounded up, the intruders demanded that they strip naked…At one point, they found an engagement ring. "That’s for you," said Jason Befort to his girlfriend H.G. "I was going to ask you to marry me."

Befort’s girlfriend has reported that, during the course of the night, she and the other woman Heather Miller, 27, were repeatedly raped. She also said that the bandits forced the prisoners to perform sex acts on each other.

Gun Control

The story above would have been different if the victims had been armed. Gun control is not VDARE.COM’s main issue. But we have written about it occasionally, because gun control involves the usual suspects on the Left, and because it’s really the “bleeding edge” where the citizen meets the terrorist, invader, or criminal, without much help from the government.

Gun control may not be much of a threat in Wichita. But it runs rampant on the Eastern Seaboard. At least the dead in Wichita could have had guns. Similar victims in New York and Massachusetts were forbidden by law from possessing the means of self-defense.

With gun control, your own government may be an unwitting accomplice in your murder. I wrote earlier this year that:

If you're going to import criminals, you should have the means to defend yourselves inside the boundaries of your own country. And it would be stupid to disarm the populace during an invasion.

It’s also true that if the government can’t prevent crime, can’t punish crime reliably, and can’t be trusted not to misuse the machinery of criminal justice, then individual Americans are going to have to defend themselves.

No it doesn't. They don't down play any stories about murder here in Indiana no matter what race perpetrates it and you don't see us shooting each other do you?

Same goes for Ohio...look at the case with the white girl having a black man's child and he murdered her. That got lots of coverage. Did you see race riots after that? No. Everyone knows where the high crime zones are and we just don't go there...white or black. It's a simple as that. Blacks worn their friends who are whites where they may not be safe and vise versa. There is no need for media manipulation.

You are absolutely right about resisting — I even teach my little kids about what to do. However, in the Halloween hate crime, the three young white girls were EACH surrounded by at least 12 black youths (of both sexes). They could do nothing while they were kicked, punched, and one of them slammed repeatedly in the head with a skateboard. Resistance, sadly, was quickly futile.

The couple were en route to watch a movie in a friend’s apartment in this complex in January. Knoxville Police believe they were carjacked, kidnapped and taken to this house.

Both were raped repeatedly, 21-year-old Channon, a university student, had cleaning fluid sprayed in her mouth. She apparently suffocated after being stuffed into a trash can inside the house. Christopher Newsom, 23 years old, was shot. His body set on fire and dumped by the railroad traction.

TIM HUTCHISON, FORMER KNOX COUNTY SHERIFF: We don’t know that many details about why this crime occurred.

DORNIN: A fingerprint found in the victim’s car a few days after the murders led to arrests. Three African-American men and one woman were charged with murder in connection with the killings. Another man is charged as an accessory.

But days later the story or a version of it gathered steam on the Web. Sites with white supremacist agendas made their own headlines. It was a hate crime, they claimed, but Knoxville prosecutors say, no way.

JOHN GILL, KNOX COUNTY D.A.’S OFFICE: There’s no evidence of any kind that a hate crime was involved.

DORNIN: That wasn’t enough to convince the bloggers.

(on camera): The national news media, they say, spends plenty of time covering white-on-black crime, but has completely ignored the story here in Knoxville. The story really took off after there were claims that the couple was sexually mutilated.

(voice-over): That new twist may have begun with an extreme right-wing blogger, Hal Turner in New York. He told CNN “sympathetic people” in Knoxville told him back in February that the young man’s genitals and the woman’s breasts had been hacked off. He put those details on his Web site.

HAL TURNER, EXTREMIST INTERNET BLOGGER: I can’t see any motivation other than hate that would prompt someone to do the things to these white kids that were done by these black perpetrators.

DORNIN: Prosecutors insist mutilations never happened.

GILL: A terrible crime is charged regardless of some of these fantastic reports of mutilation and things which aren’t true.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No more savage black crime!

DORNIN: But Turner and others stepped out from behind their computer screens to lead a rally this past weekend in Knoxville attended by white supremacists. A crowd twice as large protested the gathering.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And topping our newscast tonight, the family of...

DORNIN: As the local media in Knoxville followed the story, one reporter told us she has been receiving hate mail, lots of it. Accusations, says News Sentinel reporter Jamie Satterfield, that she covered up details of the crime and questions about why the national media hasn’t picked up on the story.

JAMIE SATTERFIELD, KNOXVILLE NEWS SENTINEL: Initially my response was, you know, don’t hit me with your racism, but what I’ve learned is that just fueled it.

DORNIN: Even while we did our interview, she got mail.

(on camera): How many have you received in the last hour?

SATTERFIELD: It looks like I’ve gotten three.

DORNIN (voice-over): All four defendants have pleaded not guilty. Defense attorneys declined to comment on the case, but agreed with prosecutors that the bloggers had hurt both sides.

GILL: They created a scenario, if true, makes people wonder, well, why wasn’t there more coverage or what’s going on? DORNIN: Channon Christian’s parents attend every court appearance. The couple don’t believe the murders were racially motivated. It’s not so straightforward for the Newsoms, they believe it did not start out as a hate crime but may have ended up that way. Even so, they resent their son’s death being used as a propaganda tool by racist groups.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Now I know Chris and Channon would not want to be a part of that. That’s not what they stood for.

DORNIN: All four defendants will be tried separately. The first trial won’t even begin until May of 2008, plenty of time for the myths, virtual and otherwise, to grow.

CNN did cover this story? I am surprised.

As far as the Snopes staff writing that the media do report on black on white crimes by citing OJ Simpson as an example, I think that is a stretch. Simpson was a big time celebrity. And of course he had plenty of defenders. Even some supporters who admitted to the media even if he did it, they didn’t care or were even glad about it.

I suppose I'd go into more detail but the system is messed up. I'm just happy I escaped with my life. The general rule is if a mark is left on the attacker the whole system goes after the staff member even though you may be just trying to protect yourself so I took it even though I used to teach martial arts. Now I'm injured for life and the culprits are back in the LA streets. Had I left a mark on the attacker I would have been up on charges for assault with a deadly weapon due to my prior training. That three staff members ended up in the hospital and it was documented by outside sources was problematic because the gov't couldn't very well cover it up and I thoroughly made certain there was not a single scratch on the attackers. AND, I pressed charges. Staff attmpted to "hang" me asking the 20 questions LOOKING to see if it was all done by the book....thankfully it was.

Now, were I administration, a psychologist or some such title those young kids that attempted murder on myself and other staff would go away for a long time and the staff member would be transferred to a cozy job the way it's supposed to work

Basically I had to sell everything I owned for the bills and such, took me four years to prove to workers comp and the pension board I was injured directly from the incident and not from a war I was in etc. The hard part was being thrown back into the fray with the same predators....they never moved them even after pressing charges, and the administrator began a paper trail on me( it was duly noted she was after me as I was labeled a "troublemaker," they kept a second chart I sort of found one day revealing incredibly nefarious statements by very high ups to try and nail me any way they could, also photocopied by me) until finally I won the Comp case, then won the following case....it took the lawyers years to decide whether I was this percent or that percent disabled. I can no longer work, can no longer teach martial arts and basically am starting over despite the pension....I'm too young to really retire and too old to consider another profession but trying anyway.

Yes, the "hood" speak is pretty nasty used on each other. I even saw black staff getting hammered by using the same lingo with the kids and written up. It was sad to see young white or hispanic kids not understanding that blacks could use the "ni**gah" word on each other which was socially accepted, but wham, when another used that slander the kid would get clocked and even staff would chart the kid was a rascist. The racial baiting was as tension filled with the adolescents as it was with certain staff members and one always had to be very very careful to not use the same terminology. I even had one staff supervisor to tell me not to directly quote the curse words, ghetto slang and racial statements( ordered me to in direct violation of the rules nd regs manual) As I said, I'm happy to be out of that hole but it burns me up to this day certain staff were running paper on me when I was the victim

Are you an officer? I don't really have much of a theory except in certain socio-economic areas hatred breeds hatred and with broken families, gang mentality and the lousy city life in general it's hard for kids to break away from the ingrained learned hatred just as the palis hate the Jews for no other reason than their parents hated them, and the whole mentality on the West bank and Gaza is to kill the "apes." the MSM picks up the internationally accepted anti-semitism and negates the fact that there isn't a fair and balanced news network that doesn't spin the story to reflect the politically corrrect views of whatever the international comunity wishes to hear. Even our own State Department is anti-Israel, but I'm on a tangent.

Back to this article/horror story, these kids/young adults as far as I can see, enacted a hate crime most probably for a variety of dumb reasons and it should be considered a hate crime. I've still got this nagging feeling journalists steer clear of stories like this because one word mis-spoken, one phrase mis-interpreted could start another riot like the dumb Rodney King riots I saw first hand. There are activists that LOOK for these things and weigh every single word...believe me though this story deserves more media atention I'm sure it's a "hot potato" and declared off limits....very two faced, again similar to the thousands of Qassams dumped on Israeli cities yet the retaliation is considered" Israeli aggression" upon the "refugee" palis...it's sick, sad and true.

I understand your concerns but it spills over into more than just cases which have been ‘solved’ more or less.

My issue is in almost every place I’ve lived, they report breathlessly on a rape or robbery and then when it’s time to go into suspect description, they’ll talk about the guy’s hat (like that can’t be changed,) clothing, height, facial hair, eye color but they won’t mention race-—UNLESS it’s a white guy.

This is a great disservice to a community and to innocent people. In some cases, with a little detail, we might be able to catch some of these people but because of their withholding of the race (be the man Asian or white or black or Hispanic) they are taking away a key element in identification. Combine that with height, facial hair and maybe a sketch, and it COULD help someone who knows the person to put 2 and 2 together and turn him in.

But instead they’d rather censor that information than assist the citizenry.

As for coverage of these crimes, I’m mixed race as you may remember and I think there’s still a great deal of racism towards blacks in this country BUT one thing I believe is that the truth is the truth. That means that if they make the Byrd killing national news for several news cycles, it’s only fair if they do the same in other cases. It doesn’t mean EVERY case should be dissected in such a manner but there should be some ATTEMPT at balance.

One thing I have noticed is that the kidnapping and rape of that black woman in West Va. seems to have been slightly underreported based on previous experiences. I don’t know if it’s because she wasn’t as sympathetic or wasn’t killed or what. Maybe the media would rather just underreport everything than give ‘fair’ front page coverage.

I’d argue that the one-sided focus on white racism has actually strengthened black and Latino racism and contributed greatly to anti-white violence but also racism and violence between blacks/hispanics/asians as this form is rarely talked about and thus never positively addressed (except maybe after the LA riots in 92.)

In addition to the sheer hideousness of this crime, this article points out yet again how liberal, criminal coddling judges, legislatures, policies, and parole boards free the scumbags to prey on innocent people all the time. These pieces of excrement, like the ones from Wichita, the Cheshire CT home invasion this summer, et al, have records a mile long and should be locked up a lot sooner. That they are allowed to be out among us is a huge national scandal. Yet the American people pretty much tolerate it. I wonder how many people who rail against crime and the toleration of crime then continue to vote for the same candidates who do nothing to make us safer.
