Seven years ago George bush and the republicans gave a tax cut to the wealthy. We had a recesion and as far as Im concerned we never recovered. I was working as a telemarketeer and my husband was at an assembly plant. In 2001 my husband was laid off after his job was outsourced. Then I lost my job too. My husband now works at Target and I held a job at Burger King. A week ago my job was terminated after buisness wasn't so well. Now were in another recession and Bush wants yet another tax cut? If cutting taxes didn't work before what does he thinks going to happen? I say raise them back up and give tax breaks to the poor and only the poor! We need it more after our jobs went away!
I have to take a shower now, someone ping me when the Zot occurs...
If the poster had the intelligence to have the level of information in your post,
she wouldn’t be in the (hypothetical) position that she claims to be.
It always amazes me that people whose skill level is sufficient to demand a Target or Burger King (why not Walmart and McDonalds?) salary demanding to live the same lifestyle as those with skills that are in demand.
What is the “lifespan” of a bottom quintile earner?
About 3 yrs? 5 yrs max until they move up, sometimes all the way to the top - unless they are looking for a handout.
"Why aren't the tax cuts working? (Meow Mix)
You are an idiot are you not?
Couldn’t we say that the poor get a 100% income tax break?
They get back EVERYTHING they paid in. Sounds more than fair.
GAAAA APOLOGIES I MEANT HEARTSAFIRE
Heritage foundation study shows that “the poor” average about 16 hours a week.
No apologies needed.
There was a doppleganger troll named Darkshear.
I’m sure you didn’t come here for an actual answer to your question, but I’m going to pretend you did.
Has it ever occurred to you that it’s not up to the government to change your life, it’s up to you? Holy crap, lady, my 17-year-old appears to have more employment qualifications than you and your husband put together!
Hubby was in a dead-end job so we started our own business. It’s all-consuming. It’s 90 hours a week, minimum. We took the risk, we put up the capital, we put in the hours, we’ve made the sacrifices, we’re busting our tails to make it work and now you want US to subsidize YOU because YOU lost your 25 hour/week job at the friggin’ Burger King???
Here’s a little tidbit about conservatives: we don’t mind helping people who are willing to help themselves. Get off the couch, take a class or get some training and make something of your own life!
170 posts and still no sparks. what is happening behind the scenes this time?
Why should an able bodied person be forced to give up what they’ve earned through hard work and determination, and give it to someone else who didn’t earn it the first place? If you’ve got your health you shouldn’t give a damn about what your neighbor earns or pays in taxes. You should go out their and make your place in this world. And if you can’t cut it too bad. Life is not fair . You should not feel entitled to what you have not earned.
By bringing your Wendy's take-out in to eat at lunch time?
Fantastic point!
Go to youtube and search fainting goats and laugh yourself silly.
Read it again. She was a telemarketeer... like a mascot for telemarketers. That was before she took her considerable skills over to the Home of the Whopper, where business was well.
It's known as Earned Income Credit. I work with people who get 5 or 6 thousand "back" and haven't paid in a penny.
