What's the take around here about the story of McCain being the pilot who started the Forrestal explosions/fire by wet-starting his jet on deck, and touching off the rocket of the A-4 behind him?
Did he really get an immediate transfer off the ship even before it was under control? (Like they were afraid the surviving crew was going to basically kill him for this?)
Is this something that is an urban legend or did it really occur and he has some or all of the blame for this happening?

Entirely inaccurate.
I have watched this on the History Channel and they interview McCain as being on board at the time and not directly involved with any planes at the time of the incident if I remember correctly.

Complete nonsense. The Zuni rocket that hit McCain’s A-4 was from an F-4 parked across the deck, there’s no controversy or dispute over it.
In no way, shape, or form did he cause the fire (Made one of many remarkable escapes from death in his life, though.)
McCain nearly got killed in that tragedy. He had nothing to do with starting it. I don’t like the guy (see my tagline) but we do need to be fair to him.
There is a video, and I've seen it: McCain was in his own plane's cockpit and was really the first victim of a "friendly-fire" missile fired from across the deck.
I've been getting this inaccuracy at rural forums for a week.
McCain has enough failings without having to make any up. But don't let the scumbag pussies besmirch his service the way they did the President's.

The Zionists cooked the Forrestal story for a reason. They said McCain was on the catapult, but video shows he wasn't.
Whether Obama, Clinton, or McCain get elected doesn't matter. They will all do what the Zionists tell them to do. The Americans will need a fiscal collapse to motivate them, and then they will seek a electoral impeachment/recall.

Secret Agent Man, it is completely inaccurate. I would suggest reading “Sailors to the End: The Deadly Fire on the USS Forrestal and the Heroes Who Fought It”.
John McCain was my former Commanding Officer for a few months...there are plenty of reasons I hate the concept of voting for him, but the Forrestal Fire is not one of them.
A simple google would have provided you video and other ample evidence, including the posts in this thread.

Well, if his plane was the one STRUCK by the missile, I don’t know how anyone can pass this off as being HIS fault.
As others have stated, it’s not like this needs to be true to be against McCain. I had just started to see a lot of this coming out the last few weeks and thought I needed to get the real scoop on it.
