I am more inclined NOT to believe the rumor if Beckel is ‘confirming’ it!
If it exists and it’s coming out NOW, then it is not the republicans that have it...plain and simple.

Look for Hillary to make a very moving, heartfelt "for the good of the party/country" speech following the primary votes tonight.
"I've run a good campaign. Even though I won more popular votes and Sen. Obama has more delgates, I won the states that any candidate needs to win the general election. And now that there is no clear winner, this nomination is left to the super delegates to abide by the will of the people. And I will abide by their decision for the good of the party/country."
On cue, a simultaneous delivery is made to the NYT, WaPo, LATimes. A "concerned citizen" hands a plain, brown wrapped package to each city desk manager.
The tape is inside.
Meanwhile, back at the watering hole, the super delegates are polishing their speeches of support for Obama.
The members of the media who follow Obama are relishing the thought of not having to use their overworked Obama Pooper-Scoopers for a few days as the campaign goes into a brief hibernation.
But, lo and behold, the story breaks!
Before the full tally of super delegates can pontificate on the Hope/Change candidate, the tape is released.
Woe, woe, woe is us! Who has dared to besmirch the annointed One and his spouse? How could Republicans/Rove/Limbaugh/Hannity be so callous to release a tape which most certainly has been edited and taken out of context. Why, this is worse than those Watergate tapes! They should, nay, they must be lynched! < cue Captain James T. Kirk voice> But...to...whom...can...we...turn?
Tune in next week to hear the super delegates say, "Boy, Republicans are sleazy. We need someone who knows how to handle them!"
And the media says to themselves, "Time to beak out that Super-Duper Clinton Pooper-Scooper. It probably needs to be re-gripped."

Very plausible. If it was just Hillary, the black folks would crucify her for downing their great hope. Blame on the GOP and she has cover.
If this really happens, and Hillary is the nominee, she will be badly damaged, and there will be a lot of resentment on the part of the Obama supporters, many of whom will suspect (perhaps rightly) that Hillary was behind the release of the tape.
If the GOP really has it, why would they release it now? Answer: they wouldn’t.
