Experts once told us that the Y2K date error in computers would cause our civilization to end. Another time, said that the world would starve to death by the year 2000. Today, folks cry out that the polar bears are dying, that the world's poorest countries will flood, and that the solution is more government control over our lives through carbon credit trading and heavy and burdensome statist regulations.
Crying and threatening that an Obama win would somehow cause our civilization to end makes you no better than the Y2K freaks, the Malthusians, and the climate change loons. If such reasoning is the only stuff you can come with to justify voting for an opportunistic political vulture like McCain and for his carbon credit madness, you can count me out.
The Sun will still rise on January 21, 2009 regardless of who takes office the day before. Life will go on. Oh, and by the way, I never said that I wouldn't vote. I just said that I wouldn't vote for either McCain or Obama.
Requires a constitutional amendment. I can see the possibility, but it's a long shot.
2. Abolish the electoral college. No red state rednecks tellin the big cities how things are gonna be.BTW this WILL solidify Blue State rule.
Requires a constitutional amendment. Small states will not let this happen. No way.
3. Pack the Supreme Court, just like FDR did to get HIS change. 3 more justices ought to do it, FWIW, theyll all make Maxine Waters look like John Birch. Prolly one of them be Hillarhea!! BTW...theyll spend the next four years disarming us one by one.
Not going to happen. To obvious a power grab. What will happen is that two of the sitting justices will announce their retirement almost the day he's inaugurated. The balance of the court will remain the same.
4. Fairness Doctrine. Outlaw Dissent. The only point of view you need is the Bamaview. BTW, without the 2nd or 4rth Ammendments, theres no 1st.
Could be done, but highly doubtful. I think the Repubs would find their backbone once again, like they did the first two years of Clinton. With 20 million Rush listener as the direct targets of this policy, I don't think they can pull it off.
You seem to attribute much more power to the office of president than what it has. May peoples fears of Obama here on FR seem to be based on the same flawed premises.
He will not be a dictator. He may want to be, and he's certainly making promises like he will be, but that's just not the case.
When the Fairness Doctrine will be enforced we’ll talk again... or likely not.
(lets try again)
Out of Obama and McCain, which one has actually authored legislation that DIRECTLY attack the 1st Amendment?
And yet, you're trying to persuade those of us who won't vote for him knowing him as you do.
Look. I get it.No, you really don't You're comfortable with seeing Obama elected. Fine. Just own up to it Unfortunately, you and the other McCain apologists will own this one.
Nope. I'm merely shooting down some of the tiresome conceits of people with your mindset.

Charming logic you have there, bub. Someone who is opposed to Obama will somehow "own" his win, should he be elected this November.
Get back to me when you learn to add 2 and 2.
With a Democrat- (or leftist-) controlled Congress, whomever wins the presidential race will do damage. It's not a matter of the quantity of the damage but the quality of the damage. All it takes is one Socialist escapade, whether that be amnesty for illegals, carbon credit trading, higher taxes, selling our sovereignty to foreign interests, or kowtowing to terrorists and political correctness. And, with respect to both of the two "viable" candidates, they are equally capable of dealing at least one severely damaging blow to the United States, provided that Congress enables them.
And, we had better find a genuinely conservative candidate for 2012 otherwise a truly dangerous opportunist (e.g., Hillary) could appear to "clean up" the messes of either McCain or Obama. At the same time, we need to figure out how to recapture back the Congress.
It's been my experience that Americans are fundamentally right of center and endowed with common sense. All you have to do is show them what's really going on behind all the nice words and euphemisms (i.e., lying) perpetrated by the establishment (Republicans and Democrats are both guilty) at the top.
Do you teach at a community college or something?
“Full statehood for D.C. could be achieved by an act of Congress by exercising the powers granted by Article Four, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution.”

A packed liberal court would facilitate the rest....WHY WOULD'NT Obama and a Democratic Congress make a power grab? Isn't that what all this is about? Democrats recognize elections as a barroom brawl. Most Pubbies still think of politics as a tiff over the rules down at the country club. They’ed rather have a “principled” gentleman's quarrel over “who's more Conservative” than a furniture breaking broken bottle knock down dragout over the POWER.
