Pope Pelosi at the Gate - Life with the Speaker.
NRO ^ | August 27, 2008 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 08/27/2008 12:05:30 PM PDT by neverdem

When Democrats decided they wouldn’t let the GOP be “God’s Only Party,” they weren’t kidding. Thanks to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, none other than St. Augustine has been summoned to Denver.

He was resurrected as Pelosi was trying to respond to the question that refuses to die: When does human life begin? This time, it was Tom Brokaw asking on Sunday’s Meet the Press. Citing Barack Obama’s recent pass on a similar question — “At what point does a baby get human rights?” — Brokaw asked Pelosi what she would say to Obama were he to ask her advice.

Pelosi didn’t finesse her answer, as Obama did when he said the question was above his pay grade, but she may wish...

--snip--

In his new book, Embryo, George and co-author Christopher Tollefsen, associate professor of philosophy at the University of South Carolina, left religion behind and set out to establish the embryo’s personhood by reviewing all the major scientific works on human embryogenesis and early intrauterine development.

Included was American medicine’s most prominent human embryology text, The Developing Human, whose authors are not imprecise on the matter of life: “Human development begins at fertilization when a male gamete or sperm (spermatozoon) unites with a female gamete or oocyte (ovum) to produce a single cell — a zygote. This highly specialized, totipotent cell marked the beginning of each of us as a unique individual.”

In other words, human life begins at conception. That is not a religious posture, but a scientific fact that the lowest paid laborer on the planet can assert without qualm. What we do with that understanding is another matter, but no one in the 21st century should pretend not to know when human life begins.

On this matter at least, the church and science are in agreement.

Pelosi is a glutton for punishment. She’s now trying to justify her lies about Church doctrine.

Incredibly dumb move.

I can’t imagine a more pretentious fool than Pelosi.

Then let’s hope that pretentious fool, Romney, is not McCain’s VP pick...

Until 2006, Romney was still “pretend(ing) not to know when human life begins”, in his rhetoric, his political debates, and his legislature....

LOL.

It's like Nancy woke up on Sunday morning and said to herself, “Hmm, now what can I do today to alienate 60 million American Catholics?...”

you must realize that Romney is a prduct of the pro-life movement, a politician whose eye’s have been open by the pro-life community. I say God Bless Romney and I hope that Romney becomes the VP for McCain.

The hard leftists are all the same, they think that whatever comes out of their mouths is converted to "truth" as soon as it clears their lips.

Now, they're trying to hide their delegate votes from the public with a "hotel vote."

Too bad the Stupid Party isn't much better, their convention will probably be full of emptiness and corruption, too.

I’m Catholic, and the statesment about abortion made by the fool that is Nancy Pelosi, is totally wrong and that she should be excommuncated from the Church (at the very least, disallowed to receive communiom.)

New York Archbishop Edward Cardinal Egan said he was “shocked” by her comments.

Egan said, “What the Speaker had to say about theologians and their positions regarding abortion was not only misinformed; it was also, and especially, utterly incredible in this day and age. ... Anyone who dares to defend that they may be legitimately killed because another human being ‘chooses’ to do so or for any other equally ridiculous reason should not be providing leadership in a civilized democracy worthy of the name.”

I heard Bela Pelosi (or one of the other rabid pro-deathers) on the radio the other day. She was saying something about "it's for the children".

The ones she allows to live?

“I can’t imagine a more pretentious fool than Pelosi.”

Pelosi is PR disaster. The more TV exposure she gets the better.

I wish there was TV on her contempt for the McCain demonstrators and her saying can we drill your heads?

Correction...

The pro-abortion community has been arround for many decades, but they are not to blame for Romney’s abortion pushing ways...

Romney spat in their etes whenever he got a chance...

In Jully, 2005, Romney tried to convince pro-lifers that he had decided he was now pro-life...

But by December, 2005 he signed into law a morning after abortion pill, and forced Catholic hospitals to disperse it inspite of pleas from his new found friends the Mass pro-lifers, and the hospitals...

In 2006 Romney signed a mandatory health care bill which included funding for abortions...

Romney blames his pro-abortion stance on the illegal abortion his aunt died from about 1970, plus he is proud of his own mother’s pro-abortion platform when she ran for the US Senate...

Why would “the smartest man in America” decide to open his eyes that late in his life ????

The evidence has been right under his nose and his eyes for decades...

No,

Romney is a ghoul, and he CHOSE to be pro-abortion...

People can change, Nana, people can change...

I’m giving Romney the benefit of the doubt at this point, although I’m hoping McCain goes dramatic and picks Gov. Palin. There’s no doubt about her pro-life credentials.

Such a move would be a game changer, and would galvanize the conservative base of the party.

Yes, and then they have to be proven...

Let’s see how long Romney stays “pro-life” and a “conservative” when he is not chosen as VP...

Let’s see if he supports McCain anhd Palin or Cantor up till Nov...

Will he pick up his marbles and stomp out pouting like he saw his father do in 1964 ????

Or will he willing support the Republican ticket ???

Now now, let's not be too hard on Flip. He will remain pro-life....at least until he determines he needs to switch positions to get elected to some position in the future.

Thanks neverdem. This is a major gaffe, but Pelosi won’t back down, because she’s not interested in the ProLife vote. Lots of topics on the fallout from this.
