Former New Hampshire Sen. Warren Rudman has been tapped by Republican presidential nominee John McCain to co-chair a new campaign committee that will deal with voter fraud issues as the election nears.Rudman and his fellow co-chair, former Missouri Sen. John Danforth, told reporters on a conference call yesterday that voting and registration issues are already surfacing in many states, although New Hampshire was not among them.
Rudman said that the election "ought to be decided by voters, not lawyers."
The McCain-Palin Honest and Open Election Committee wants to ensure that "every qualified citizen has a right to vote in a fair and honest 2008 election," according to open letters recently sent by Rudman and Danforth to the Barack Obama campaign, Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean and state election officials.
Rudman represented New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate from 1980 to 1993 and had served as the state's Attorney General from 1970 to 1976.
The Rudman-Danforth letters to the Democratic officials propose that each campaign "list every precinct where either (campaign) fears there is a potential for voter intimidation, fraud or mistrust of the tabulation process on Election Day."
They say that with only seven weeks remaining in the campaign, "we suggest this process be begun first in the commonly-identified presidential battleground states."
They suggest that Republican and Democratic volunteers would "work jointly as an observation team," and, "We would recruit similarly bipartisan teams assigned to oversee multiple precincts to respond to and investigate reports of problems."
They suggest that the teams would agree on "avenues of appeals that could be taken to the courts, if needed.
"The goal is to provide a mechanism where the problems that have occurred in the past with voting can be addressed in advance to give our democracy a great gift: the right to express our views, our hope and our desires through our right to vote in an honest and open election," wrote Rudman and Danforth.
The McCain campaign has cited concerns about the proper handling of absentee ballots by military personnel overseas. It has also said another issue is last-minute decisions for polling places to stay open later.
Danforth said the McCain campaign is particularly concerned about the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), which is registering people to vote in huge numbers and whose political action committee is supporting Obama.
Danforth said issues are already surfacing in Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Nevada and Washington state, and the senators said they have not yet received responses from Dean or the Obama campaign.
What about North Carolina, NM, and VA?
Rudman going to do something patriotic?.....wow....tide is turning....
I saw this in my email the other day and think it is AWESOME! Make every legal vote count!
Fellow Freepers,
Volunteer to be a Poll Challenger or Poll Watcher. You’re party and your country need you.
I can't see the MSM reporting on the findings if they've done a thorough and honest investigation.
About time something was honestly done about voter fraud.
Voter fraud people should be punished to the max, also.
It’s about time picked this up and shoved it up the perpetrator’s asses. The next thing they have to get rid of; media blackouts of Election Day results.
Rudman, the guy who sold Bush 41 on that weird schizoid judge (David Souter) who eats apple cores for lunch; and Danforth, who gave us the whitewash of the slaughter of the innocents at Mt. Carmel. Yeah, I’m really counting on these two to get to the bottom of the ACORN treason.(PUKE)
But...but...what about the other 53 states? LOL!
I’m SO glad to see this. Keep the pressure on about cheating! I’m so SICK of my vote being canceled out by a dead guy, a homeless person with no known address or someone from inside the local prison!
Nicely phrased.
Nicely phrased. And don’t trust McCain too much either.
It will be funded by campaign donations. If it accomplishes anything is another matter!
Danforth is clueless to the extreme, and worthless on any commission. What an awful job he did on the Waco investigation. Please, spare us this ineptitude again.
Like this piece of human excrement (Danforth) is trustworthy enough to find his own ass. Waco cover up sob.

This voter fraud issue is causing me to toss and turn a lot at night. I don’t believe Obama will win honestly, and trusting the system again will be difficult. I always vote, but I may not if the Dems steal this thing. McCain should win on election day by 5 points at least.
