(AP) The government is investigating whether any laws were broken in the disclosure that Barack Obama's aunt was living in the country illegally.
Obama's half-aunt, who is from Kenya, was ordered to leave the United States years ago after an immigration judge denied her request for asylum, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss the case.
The woman, Zeituni Onyango, is living in public housing in Boston and is the half-sister of Obama's late father. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement asked its inspector general and the Office of Professional Responsibility on Saturday to investigate whether any policies were violated when information about Onyango's case was publicly disclosed, ICE spokeswoman Kelly Nantel said.
The Homeland Security Department, which oversees ICE, cannot disclose details about an individual's immigration status.

President McCain will pardon them and give them a staff job. /h
That’s Interesting, so the CLINTON DOJ LAWYERS are harassing everyone again...
Funny, there WERE LAWS BROKEN, BY OBAMA HUSSEIN’S AUNT! AND SHE EVEN DEFIED A FEDERAL JUDGE’S ORDER, AND THEN WENT ON WELFARE SO THAT WE THE TAXPAYERS COULD PAY FOR HER. AND THEN, FUNNY, SHE HAD MONEY SOMEHOW TO DONATE TO THE OBAMA HUSSEIN ELECTION FUND!!!
And how’s that Joe the Plumber investigation going????
How’s this any different from the Joe the Plumber hatchet jobs?
There were no leaks. The British reporter found this out on his own. The DBM wants this story squashed and somebody out there on McCain’s side is making sure it stays in the news day after day with some new development.
Is she registered to vote?
Off of the top of my head, would the court order be public record?
I would imagine so. If that is the case and if that is how the information was obtained—it is completely different.
Why is it BS? It’s no different than all the people who accessed Joe the Plumber’s private information. It’s not okay for our side to do it, and it’s not okay for their side to do it.
We have very strict rules about disclosing personal information on immigration cases. Even if it is Obama’s relative, and a nice, juicy tidbit of gossip, someone screwed up (just like the state department fools who accessed all the candidates passport files.) We who toil in government service have enough problems with public trust without somebody doing this.
The British paper that ran the original story ran an update that detailed how they found Obama’s aunt. All public records. No secrets leaked.
I had heard that a new organization from the UK broke the story.
Quote of the fookin' week right there.......
I'll bet she is.
Probably in several states.
They have an article explaining how they tracked down Auntie.
They read Obama book and then did the footwork.
It's BS that it is illegal for US citizens to know who is in the country illegally. The world is upside down.
OK.
Fess up.
Who TOLD!?!
Question:
If this lady had a deportation order, shouldn’t the DHS/Border/Customs and TSA had her on their computers to deny her re-entry after her return from Africa?
Just another glitch...GWB has made the borders watertight don’cha know.
This is complete BS. There is no “right to privacy” for immigration hearings. These hearings are open to the public as are their outcomes, in this case a deportation order.
Any reporter could have filed a FOIA request. In fact, I’m not sure if even that would be necessary. An analogy would be bankruptcy. Let say Barry for Chapter 11, but no one knew it. Three days before the election, a Federal employee tells that to someone in the press about the previous bankruptcy. That’s not a leak. It’s a PUBLICLY available fact.
This election can’t come soon enough.
