Stores say gun-control fears spur firearms sales

FORT WORTH — While watching Republican presidential candidate John McCain's concession speech, gun owner AJ Sullivan had a sinking feeling.

"Liberals like to ban guns. That's what it comes down to," said Sullivan, 25, a Texas Christian University student.

Sullivan was among hundreds scrambling to buy a weapon Thursday at the gun store Cheaper Than Dirt! — which sold $101,000 in merchandise the day after the election, shattering its single-day sales record, said store owner DeWayne Irwin.

Stories were similar across Texas, where residents are fiercely protective of their Second Amendment rights and now fear stricter gun-control laws under Democratic President-elect Barack Obama.

"There's a mindset here of freedom, and you've bitten off more than you can chew if you think you can come after Texans' guns," said Charlissa Stokes, co-owner of Panhandle Gunslingers, an Amarillo shooting range and gun store where sales have doubled the last few days.

At Houston's Memorial Shooting Center, gun sales are up 70 percent and "the whole wall of assault rifles is gone," said manager Richard Poulis.

Fort Worth's Cheaper Than Dirt! reported about $480,000 in sales in October 2007 but $890,000 last month, jumping to $1 million including the first four days of November, Irwin said. About half of the sales are guns, mostly assault rifles and other weapons that would be subject to the assault-weapons ban if it is reinstated, he said.

President Bush and Congress allowed it to expire in 2004, 10 years after President Clinton signed the ban into law.

Yay!

And I’m even more bitter and “clingier” than I was just a few days ago.

Of course, the first thing DICTATORS do is take away peoples guns or make it impossible to afford to buy supplies.

Then they get their brown shirt civilian army to rev up the gas chambers

We have a table at a gun show here in NY this weekend. I’m going to watch the table while hubby goes on a shopping spree.

Just in time for the civil war some gun grabbers -ie: politicians attempting to restrict gun ownership- ironically are fomenting with their rhetoric.

Don’t foget the ammo.

10-4.

I've also got friends who have the equipment to manufacture their own ammo (provided they have the basic components).

Gun owners should look into the mirror...they have only themselves to blame.

Apparently the 80+ million gun owners bloc has voted for this “socialist” to some degree, showing again that Americans cannot stick together even when the country’s very future is at stake. If gun owners had truly voted en masse against Hussein, he’d be slinking off to Chi-town right now.

When the Dimmi congress passes McCarthy’s AWB next spring, you think maybe BO will sign it? Ya think?

With Obama and a Dem-controlled congress, we’ll see gun registration by this time next year, using the 4473 info: my prediction...write it down. Can states’ rights keep him from federally outlawing your CCR permit?

All the big talkers that have said over the years “..from my cold dead hands...” will get their chance, maybe sooner than later. (Alas, I wonder how many of these will submit, like the poor fools in New Orleans did. It’s hard to fight when you are alone and the JBT are at the door in their SWAT outfits, and you have no backup to call...)

Finally, remember in the controversial novel “The Turner Diaries” when the govt used ‘freed prisoners’ and ‘gangs’ to collect the guns? (They were expendable.) Now, please remember Obamanure’s call for a “Civilian Security Force”? Get the connection?

Organize with like-minded individuals NOW, while there is time.

I've got ye olde Samurai short sword beside mine, and a 12 gauge pump within easy reach.

Do not assume that you have until Inauguration Day to make such purchases. I was well stocked before Election Day, but then today (Thusrday), I decided that I wanted another dry box full of ammo. I went all over and there wasn’t a single caliber of self defense ammo to be had at any major outlet such as wal-mart or sporting stores. They did have full metal jackets, but no hollow point ammo or 00 buck shot at all. I asked them when they would have more, and they replied, “I don’t know, we have sold more ammo since Tuesday than we have sold all year long.” Luckily, I came across a lone pawn shop that had a good amount of the exact calibers and gauges that I needed, so I cleaned them out. Get what you need NOW! There is a run on guns and ammo in this country right now.

Good pick . May I recommend a M-1 Garand to go with it . I have enough 30-06 to keep my model 700 and M-1 feed for a long time .

Scope it. Then claim all of your precious guns were tragically lost in a fishing trip mishap... :D
