The story is a couple of days old but I did a search and didn't see it posted. In the old days it was Bibles, now it's cell phones.

The story is a couple of days old but I did a search and didn't see it posted. In the old days it was Bibles, now it's cell phones. The story makes no sense. If he was hit by a bullet the casing wouldn't be there. It would still be in the gun or on the ground near the shooter. Casings don't travel with the bullet.

I think the problem is the ignorance of the reporter. Of course the bullet hit the phone, not the casing. The reporter probably doesn’t know the difference. I was tempted to edit the story before posting.

I think it was the bullet itself that fell down, but the journalist probably has never even seen a gun so is ignorant on the topic.
However, I must forward this to Mythbusters! They love this kind of stuff. I think they already did a cell phone saves guy from gun shot when they did the deck of cards and bible.

In the old days it was Bibles, now it's cell phones. LOL!!! Either way, it is God talking!
When my oldest daughter was in college a couple of years ago, she was at a friend's apartment. At 1:30am she decided it was time to begin her half hour walk back to her home. The girl she was with begged her to stay and spend the night. My daughter said no because she prefers her own bed and gave an excuse. Her friend countered with a solution and in fact, for each excuse for not staying that my daughter gave, her friend had a solution. Finally, my daughter relented.
She went home in the morning and discovered that there was a murder at 2 AM in the parking lot of her apartment, right on the path my daughter would have taken. My daughter could have been the victim!

Don’t you just love reporters. It was a double barreled, over and under, fully automatic assault shot gun with a 30 round clip, don’t ‘cha know!

I was tempted to edit the story before posting.I'm sure it was the reporter. Changing the story is a no-no, however. Let it stand. Let we readers see the ignorance that's out there in MSM land.

Woody Allen used to tell this joke 45 years ago:
Years ago, my mother gave me a bullet...a bullet, and I put it in my breast pocket. Two years after that, I was walking down the street, when a berserk evangelist heaved a Gideon bible out a hotel room window, hitting me in the chest. Bible would have gone through my heart if it wasn't for the bullet.

If it was a 0.45 it musta been a Tommy Gun. BTW, what are the odds it was a "stray". Maybe the headline should have read, "Cell Phone Blocks Well Aimed Shot, Saves Man's Life for Now"? I don't know whom he pist off, but I think he should be wearing a steel pot and flak jacket and not depend on "the network".

I saw this on tv. The slug looked to me, like a slug used in a muzzle loader.

The bullet must have been mostly spent if a cellphone stopped it. I don’t think those little plastic boxes have nearly the stopping power of a pocket bible.

“I saw this on tv. The slug looked to me, like a slug used in a muzzle loader.”
If it hit at a 45 degree angle, and the cell phone stopped it, it likely would not have killed him, but only wounded him. Of course, we can not be certain about these things.

Reporter screwed up... this was real and it happened... was on local news two nights ago.
