"Taken" actor Neeson Explains Why Film Doing So Well In US (You Will Like This!)

As the movie "Taken" passes the 150 million mark worldwide, (thanks to its 3rd consecutive 20 million+ weekend in the US, an interview with its star Liam Neeson has been released from Germany.

BILD: "Why do you think your action thriller is number one in the US?

Liam Neeson: "We live in a time in which no one wants to take responsibility. Everyone passes the blame onto someone else, the circumstances, the fate. My hero acts. He does what he can do best - kill! But he has a heart of gold."

For those who have not seen this movie, its about an ex CIA agent who does EVERYTHING he can to get his kidnapped daughter back.

As Neeson states in the interview: “It is a very politically incorrect film. A man does everything in order to rescue the most important thing in his life – his daughter. Wouldn’t you do the same?”

MSNBC went even further saying it is a movie that "Bushies" will love and compared its racism to "Birth of Nation"

The bad guys are Albanians, corrupt French, and Arabs. The idiot is the liberal mom who lets her teen daughter go to Europe without an adult. "Enhanced interrogation techniques" are used...and work. There are no F-Bombs or nudity (rated PG-13) and there are no liberal themes like global warming. Last of all the hero is the father. No wonder liberals hate this movie so much...and its doing so well!

From Rotten Tomatoes:

"The sleeper action hit Taken was close behind in third place taking in an estimated $22.2M. With the three-day portion off a scant 8% to $19M, it was the strongest third weekend gross for any film since The Dark Knight narrowly edging out the $18.8M that Quantum of Solace took in during its third frame. Taken has now swiped a stunning $80.9M in just 18 days with much more still to come. The Liam Neeson hit could crack the $100M mark next weekend and will challenge Gran Torino and Paul Blart: Mall Cop for bragging rights to top grossing wide release of the year. All three have shot well beyond expectations."

Good movie...highly recommend. Finally a good role for a FATHER.....where he is actually smart, tough, and knows what he is doing.

Wasn’t Neeson in with the hollywood critics of Bush and the war?

It was an awesome movie - the packed audience at the showingS I attended would giggle when the bad guys got their comeuppance. Very uplifting.

Two thumbs up. And that crap about racism is ridiculous. The important lesson behind the movie is that our peace comes from the sacrifices of men like the lead character.

Just the fact that MSNBC doesn’t like the movie makes it a must see to me.

This is a great movie. Aside from that, one of the things I find most interesting about it though is that it is a living, breathing, debunking of EVERYTHING that Hollywood says about piracy ruining their sales.

This movie was available on the internet in a rough copy in the middle of last year. A perfect copy was available MONTHS before the movie opened to huge box office numbers.

If anything, the availability of the movie actually got word out about how good it was and enhanced it’s box office performance.

Anyways, it’s one of the best action movies in years.

He portrayed the pervert Kinsey. Neeson’s no hero to me.

Excellent movie by Luc Bresson, the America-loving Frenchman who is the only dude in France who can make a good flick.

The villains are muslims, decadent US liberals and corrupt French socialist functionaries.

The CIA, CIA interogation techniques, fathers, and action oriented Americans are portrayed positively in the movie.

LOL! You are quite correct. Now I will not say if I have that copy but I have “seen” it and it is..perfect for a DVD. Including the DVD box cover and DVD cover itself. I saw it in December available for download but never knew what it was all about until early January.
I could also add that’s why it was popular due to word of mouth and from that copy.

A simple story, lots of action. Liam Neeson is compelling because he can act the tough guy (think of Charles Bronson on amphetamines) with the best of them but can still convey with absolute realism a quality of tenderness and fatherly decency that keeps him likable. He’s a highly-trained man of his word. And when he says he will find the kidnapper and kill him, boy does he ever.

Fortunately, I'm pretty sure nobody was suggesting he become your hero.

Indeed, word of mouth got me into the theater, and I’m so glad it did. It was wonderfully politically incorrect without being preachy in the slightest. MSNBC’s uncalled for response just shows how close minded libs are to any movie that doesn’t involve portraying heroes, the CIA, and fathers in a bad light. There was nothing wrong with this film.

Right you are. He also co-wrote Transporter 2 and most of his movies have a Euro feel to it but based mostly in America.
