“The federal government should shut down its drug war.”

They should also allow prostitution and consumption of marijuana in public places. After all, it works for Holland.

Oh wait, Holland is now changing its laws to be more restrictive since they became a crap magnet for all the world’s degenerates and depraved young people. Maybe you should just be beamed up to Osiris, Captain.

That would be following the letter of the Constitution. He will have none of that dead white guy crap. He is here to rewrite it in the same he wrote his books. Had it off to a left wing whacko and take credit for it.

border towns flooded with weekenders from around europe are closing their coffeeshops and other towns are closing them in areas around schools. magic mushrooms were banned, but no changes have been made to marijuana.
the netherlands is tired of ‘narcotourists’ not the drugs.

So what if he respects the right of the people of CA to use marijuana for medical purposes? I say it’s about time, but I wish he would go a lot further than that: get the feds out of the pot-law enforcement entirely, & let the states make their own decisions. The 10th Amendment demands it.

Keep splitting those hairs, Barber.

Wasn’t one of the guys who played in the Doobie Brothers a good friend of the well-respected Tony Snow, & wasn’t he involved in our nation’s missile defense program?

So much for a slacker there! Not to mention Carl Sagan, Willie Nelson, Abraham Lincoln (who wrote a letter about his smoking pot to the German maker of a harmonica he owned while he was President!), etc.....

Total slackers, indeed!

Vice wars are inconsistent with fiscal conservatism and cause a lot of unnecessary social misery as a side effect. Very expensive and usually do no good as the targeted behaviors typically continue unabated.

How about we get the government out of the nanny business and let people be free to do as they wish so long as they don't hurt anyone else? If you want to pay an adult for sex or smoke pot, you should be as free to do it as you are to eat 10 big macs in a sitting or have 14 kids. The money saved on prisons and law enforcement could be returned to us in tax cuts. Big government is big government, whether used for liberal or conservative purposes.

That would be one Jeff "Skunk" Baxter who's better musical work was with Steely Dan. R&R Hall Of Fame shoe-in. Last I heard, Jeff was still over at BMDO.

“and currently serving my country in ways you can only read of in books.”

Ohhh, we’re so impressed. Why don’t you write a book so we can all hear about it?

“You smoke dope, you’re an f’n slacker.”

Ha, ha. Like it or not, medical marijuana does have a place. Oh wait, let’s just take LEGAL drugs like oxycontin. MUCH safer.

You edited out the rest of my statement. I said that the states should be allowed to continue it.

We need to act like adults in this country and stop pretending that the war on drugs does anything except fuel a civil war south of the border, act as a welfare program for the prison industry and erode our civil rights. Grow up people, it’s not any worse than cigarettes or alcohol, and prohibition has a lot of horrible side effects.

Amen to everything you said. Unfortunately there are still many apologists for the War on Drugs around here, and in the country as a whole.

Sorry, you’re morally weak. aka ‘Slacker’.
