WASHINGTON (AP) - Attorney General Eric Holder signaled a change on medical marijuana policy Wednesday, saying federal agents will target marijuana distributors only when they violate both federal and state law.
That would be a departure from the Bush administration, which targeted medical marijuana dispensaries in California even if they complied with that state's law

The List, ping
Always figured he was a pothead.
It’s quite a bit worse than that.
Sooooo can we now ‘marry’ women with the name ‘Jywana’, now? ;)
Me thinks he’s one toke over the line, sweet Jesus!
By next month, they will only be targeted when they don’t pay their taxes.
SOMA... Ah soma... Things will be so much easier when everyone has some...
If that’s what they want, change the laws.
A country with harsh specific laws that are selectively enforced or overlooked in some places is an arbitrary dictatorship.
Imagine being a LEO and being faced with what the law says, and that your boss wants you to ignore certain aspects for certain people and certain cases.
Only if they're not up for a cabinet post or other high level gov't job.
So what?
why doesn’t he make all drug laws up to the states and shut down the DEA?

We need to act like adults in this country and stop pretending that the war on drugs does anything except fuel a civil war south of the border, act as a welfare program for the prison industry and erode our civil rights. Grow up people, it’s not any worse than cigarettes or alcohol, and prohibition has a lot of horrible side effects.
I’m happy to hear that, finally, there is ONE issue w/ President Obama that I can agree w/. It’s good to see that he may respect the 10th Amendment rights of the states to decide their own medical marijuana laws, but I wish that he & Congress would go even further than that: eliminate ALL federal penalties against marijuana, & let the states choose how restrictive or how lenient they & the people would like to be on both the industrial, medical & recreational uses of marijuana.
Well said. The federal government should shut down its drug war. If that states want to try to continue it, let them on their own dime.
