John Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor. (MADE IN HONG KONG) He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA) designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA) After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) filled it with GAS (from SAUDI ARABIA) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, checking his Computer (made in MALAYSIA), John decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL), poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA
AND NOW HE'S HOPING HE CAN GET HELP FROM A PRESIDENT
MADE IN KENYA
Perhaps we should also add this footnote:
Having exported American jobs overseas, some of the “Global Economy” corporations expressed real anger recently, when it was announced they would have to start paying taxes like the rest of us. They declared (with straight faces) it would be “a death blow” to the American worker.
This is tragic. However, I have a question I’d like answered. Would John be willing to pay the price for each of these articles if they bore the costs of multiple unions, confiscatory taxes levied by local, state and federal governments, environmental regulations, insurance costs to protect liability lawsuits, government mandated business costs, and the constant harassment by everyone not listed above. In fact, could he afford those costs?
Perhaps he might-IF he had decent employment, good unions, and a reasonable measure of regulation.
When John is relegated to a “You want fries with that ?” job,the overall economy suffers.
Absolutely, as long as the gov't didn't allow the mega-manufacturers, banks and other businesses to violate the anti-trust laws as they now do...
It's called competition...The one who sells the cheapest sells the most...
Perhaps Mr. Smith's bad grammar is holding him back.
