KENILWORTHFive-term North Shore Rep. Mark Kirk formally announced his bid for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate today, billing himself as an independent who wants to lead others who are not afraid to stand alone against the corruption that has infiltrated Illinois politics.
Standing in front of his late fathers north suburban home, Kirk said his record as a moderate on social issues shows he is not an ideologue or party partisan.
. . . . .
Kirk listed as endorsers Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, who heads the Republican National Senatorial Committee, as well as GOP Sens. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and John Kyl of Arizona, the two leading Republicans in the Senate. He also listed Republican Sens. John McCain of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Sam Brownback of Kansas.

Wasn’t I reading stories a week ago saying he wasn’t going to run, or am I confusing him with somebody else?

I will not vote for him. I hear Judy Barr Topinka may run for senate (she gave us Alan Keyes for senate race)
I will vote for her before I vote for that POS Kirk. At least with JBT we know what we are getting
I told Kirks office why bother running. I may as well just vote for the Democrat

Is there a conservative GOPer running against him? If not, I hope he wins b/c it would be one step closer to toppling Reid.

He explained that vote on WIND560 this morning.
He voted in favor due to Homeland Security issues. He wanted to make sure that our international energy dependence was lessened.
Series. I’m paraphrasing but that was the gist of it.
Oh, and that “Assault Weapon” ban. He wanted to make sure that criminals are obtaining weapons that make the police less safe. (Really? What about keeping Mr&Mrs Sixpack safe?)
% years of sequestered ignorance. He’s so out of it, he doesn’t even understand how simple street crime works.

Judy TooPinko will do exactly what the Combine asks her to do.
Don’t settle for either one.

criminals are obtaining weapons Sorry. Shouyld be "aren't obtaining". Work and Lurk

Yes, but in the interim, Democrat AG Lisa Madigan announced she will not run. (Word is that her mother put her foot down and said that, with a two small children, one of them one year old, she has no business running for Senate).
So Kirk changed his mind because his strongest competition dropped out.
