THE DEMOCRATIC National Committee won't officially elect its next chairman until Feb. 12, so Howard Dean doesn't have the job wrapped up just yet. But the Association of State Democratic Chairs endorsed him this week, and two of the five other candidates for the position have since dropped out.
Clearly, the Democratic chairmanship is now Dean's to lose. And that should have reasonable Democrats worried, because their party's ills aren't going to get better with the medicine Dr. Dean is prescribing.
As governor of Vermont, Dean was regarded as a budget-balancing, gun-owner-friendly centrist. As a candidate for president, he turned himself into an angry, left-wing firebrand. Perhaps as party chairman he'll turn himself back into something thoughtful and moderate, in which case the Democratic Party may regain some of the ground it has lost to Republicans over the past decade. But on the evidence so far, Dean has no intention of turning down the heat.
Speaking to a DNC forum in New York over the weekend, Dean indulged once again in some of the undisguised loathing of the GOP that was such a hallmark of Democratic Party activism last year. "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for,"

UNITED WAY take conservative money too - and hits up conservative companies.
Conservatives who donate to UNITED WAY are supporting organizations like ACORN - and they don’t know it.
Spread the word...

We have to give Dr. Dean some slack. Its his Hippocratical duty to test all those free samples.
Actual title: Dean for DNC chairman? Yeeaarrgghh!
Well I heard something unspoken in Dean's ululation. I heard "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for, and if it were up to me they'd all be in cattlecars on a one-way-trip to camps in the desert southwest."
Basically, what Dean is saying is that he doesn’t like anyone that disagrees with him.
United Way is a dictatorship. I’ve worked with companies that took donations for United Way. United Way came back to the company and told them to do better, especially with management. The company sent all forms back to their managers and told them to re-evaluate their donations. We knew exactly what they meant.
I love the high profile presence of Dean in the Democrat Party. The #1 race bating, institution would have as it’s leader a man whose biggest accomplishment was being Governor of a State that has less black people than my town puts into a high school football stadium during a homecoming game.
Isn't this, by definition, HATE speech?
Where is the condemnation from his peers?

Yes, this really is Chairman How. What exactly he's being tested for I don't know. The photo dates to 2004 or so.
“I Hate the Democrats and Everything the Stand For”
that makes me racist... right?
A pity too, that all those needy people should suffer because UW is more concerned with scoring political points with perpetually-aggrieved minority groups.
Abso-tutin-lutely! ;0)
...beside the obvious Daffy Dean, why don't you bring up that "TORT REFORM" gem you told everybody about two weeks ago......you know repeat it over and over again...just so your colleagues understand it
It's odd how sooooo many organizations are "liberal" AND also "thuggy"....
Frank Dashwood: "I am no longer a Republican since your dupe McCain became their presidential nominee, but I am sure you still hate me. I don't see hate as a "sin" of some sort, so your feelings are inconsequential to me... The best thing about being an atheist is that there is no pretense I need to give a damn about your effing "feelings."
You're being to kind to UNITED WAY.
Oh he’d make a wonderful DNC chair! Will remind American’s everday why they do not want liberal democrats in control of anything!
I guess some of the things he hates are the concepts of personal liberty and national security.
The Democrats I hope, elect Dean again. He is a NUT CASE. The Blue Dawgs will vote our way. So let the Democrats melt down with the lunatic fringe. 2010 we put on the BRAKES!
If a prominent Republican had said something like this about Democrats, they and their media allies would be calling us a hate group. When one of their own says it, it’s passed off as normal political rhetoric. Their toleration of this statement is compelling proof that their protestations about conservative incivility are fraudulent.
