The director of Britain's leading Climate Research Unit, Phil Jones, has told Investigate magazine's TGIF Edition tonight that his organization has been hacked, and the data flying all over the internet appears to be genuine.

In an exclusive interview, Jones told TGIF, "It was a hacker. We were aware of this about three or four days ago that someone had hacked into our system and taken and copied loads of data files and emails."

"Have you alerted police"

"Not yet. We were not aware of what had been taken."

Jones says he was first tipped off to the security breach by colleagues at the website RealClimate.

"Real Climate were given information, but took it down off their site and told me they would send it across to me. They didn't do that. I only found out it had been released five minutes ago."

This is the story of the year. The hacked data and email expose the scandal the 'scientists' who sold the world on global warming were pulling. Emails incriminate Michael Mann (hockey stick guy), Briffa (tree ring guy) and the other main players who invented this 'crisis'

I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline. Mike’s series got the annual land and marine values while the other two got April-Sept for NH land N of 20N. The latter two are real for 1999, while the estimate for 1999 for NH combined is +0.44C wrt 61-90. The Global estimate for 1999 with data through Oct is +0.35C cf. 0.57 for 1998. One particular thing you said - and we agreed - was about the IPCC reports and the broader climate negotiations were working to the globalisation agenda driven by organisations like the WTO.

So my first question is do you have anything written or published, or know of anything particularly on this subject, which talks about this in more detail?

My second question is that I am invovled in a working group organising a climate justice summit in the Hague and I wondered if you had any contacts, ngos or individuals, with whom you have worked especially from the small island States or similar areas, who could be invited as a voice either to help on the working group and/or to invite to speak?

Here in Michigan we’ve already enacted plenty of our own versions of cap and trade legislation. I’m sure the same has happened in plenty of other states as well.

My electric bill has doubled because of it.

The leak is confirmed as being genuine. In emails, scientists admit to faking data and "stacking the peer-review process to prevent qualified skeptical scientists from getting their research papers considered".

You know I was thinking for a while about why in the heck they wouldn’t contact the police as soon as they discovered they had been hacked and “tons of data” was copied/stolen... My bet? They were waiting for a blackmail call!!! Can’t believe they actually just came out and admitted all the docs were genuine — saves the analysts a lot of time in regards to tracing email headers and such!

Can you just imagine the TRILLIONS of dollars in government grants for research and other programs that were STOLEN because of this faked data??? Heads are going to roll — these people should ALL be in jail... I’m reading through these docs and they incriminate a LOT of people and organizations...

I can’t even begin to imagine how many people will be getting their credentials/diplomas stripped — and how the heck are they going to explain this to the WORLD???

I still can’t believe that Jones up and admitted all of it was genuine. Sounds like a guy who knew he couldn’t hide any longer... I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these people are considering doing what the stock brokers did in 1929...
